 Menu

First up, let’s talk menu. As we noted above, the menu this year at Prosperity Bao & Bun features some new snacks to talk about. There are 2 buns to pick from as well as a variety of alcoholic drinks.

Menu

Kung Pao Bao — NEW! BBQ Pork Bun — NEW! Jasmine Tea Lager? NEW! That’s right folks — it’s a whole party of newness over here. To be honest, we are a bit sad to see the Pepperoni Pizza Bao Bun didn’t return, but new snacks await us so let’s jump in and see if these items are worth the cash.

Eats

First up, we grabbed the Kung Pao Bao. This is a bao bun made with plant-based chicken, toasted peanuts, and scallions. It is priced at $9.

Kung Pao Bao

We never would have guessed this was plant-based chicken! The sauce here is absolutely delicious and we think the peanuts go very well with all the other flavors. This bun has a bit of spice, but it’s nothing too overwhelming. The bao bun is perfectly soft and airy — overall this is an amazing offering, and we give it an 8/10!

We loved it!

Next up, it’s time to keep the bao party going with the BBQ Pork Bun. This features kimchi mayo and garlic chile crunch. You can grab one of these for $9.

BBQ Pork Bun

We describe this as a spicy little ball of deliciousness! The Kimchi Mayo is really what ties this whole dish together. The meat is super tender and the bao bun is, again, so soft. We give this one a 10/10 as long as you don’t mind spice!

Spicy little ball of deliciousness

Many of you out there might be big fans of the Cheeseburger Pods from Satu’li Canteen in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. In terms of a comparison, these buns are just as soft, if not softer, and they’ve definitely got a kick to them, while the Cheeseburger Pods don’t have any spice. If you find yourself wishing the Cheeseburger Pods just had some spice, you have to try these!

Now, let’s talk drinks.

Drinks

The alcoholic beverage options here are new as well, so we opted to try a few different things by getting the Dragon Beer Flight, priced at $18.50. This flight comes with the Brewery X Grapefruit Panda Pool Party Bamboo Rice Lager, Harland Brewing Co. Tangerine Dragon Fruit Hefeweizen, Stereo Brewing Co. Jasmine Tea Lager, and Eagle Rock Brewery Lychee IPA.

Dragon Beer Flight

The Brewery X Grapefruit Panda Pool Party Bamboo Rice Lager is the lightest and has a very, very small hint of grapefruit. It wasn’t our reporter’s favorite flavor-wise, but it was still good. The Harland Brewing Co. Tangerine Dragon Fruit Hefeweizen on the other hand was definitely more tart than the others. The tangerine flavor is right at the forefront, and we loved the aftertaste it made. It’s very light and refreshing.

A little bit of each one!

The Stereo Brewing Co. Jasmine Tea Lager was next and this one was our reporter’s favorite! The jasmine tea really shines in this drink, making it so incredibly refreshing — great for a hot day. Lastly, we had the Eagle Rock Brewery Lychee IPA which was our reporter’s least favorite. Since this is an IPA, the beer taste is stronger here and the lychee is VERY strong. It’s definitely a bitter beer, and it packs a punch with 7% ABV.

Give it a try!

All of these drinks are new to the Festival this year. While you can grab each one individually (prices range from $14 to $15.25), the flight provides you with a nice way to sample each of them.

Also available at this booth is the Tsingtao with Frozen Mango Beer Foam ($15), the NEW Mickey-shaped Macaron Straw Clip (there is a limit of two per person, per transaction, $7.75 each)…

…and the returning Lotus Flower Glow Cube (there is a limit of 10 per person, per transaction, $6 each).
