6 Disney World Hotel Rules You’re Accidentally BREAKING
We’re not trying to step on your toes, but let’s talk about some of those rules you’ve been breaking at Disney World hotels.
The list of do’s and don’ts is probably the furthest thing from your mind when you’re planning your Disney World trip, and that’s understandable. That’s why we’re here — so that you can have a fun and safe trip and not break any of the rules unknowingly!
No need to look around and try to find who’s been guilty of breaking Disney World rules (we’ve all probably broken a rule on a previous visit). That aside, let’s take a look at a couple of rules that you might not have known you’ve been breaking at the hotels.
Balloons Aren’t Allowed In Animal Kingdom Lodge
Let’s start with this one as not everyone realizes this is a rule. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge (both Kidani Village and Jambo House) strictly prohibits balloons — even the balloons Disney sells themselves are not allowed.
Please don’t be offended. Just know that this rule is to protect the animals. With so many creatures, and several of these being winged creatures, lost balloons can be very dangerous to their health.
Don’t Feed The Wildlife
Listen, no matter how cute the squirrel or duck looks, please, oh please, do not feed them! You’ll be breaking a Disney rule if you do this! In some cases, you’ll also be breaking a Florida law.
You’ll find signs posted all around Disney World asking you not to feed the wildlife and the short of it is: It’s not their natural food and what their bodies are meant to eat. The last thing anyone wants to have happen is for the animals to become dependent on people to feed them. That can turn into pretty aggressive behavior when animals are no longer cautious of the people around them, so let’s just stick to the rules!
Don’t Sit On Railings, Chains, and Ropes
We’re not sure why it is that when we see a railing or ropes, we instantly want to lean on it and maybe even swing on it, but this can turn dangerous incredibly fast.
There’s a very real possibility that these railings, ropes, and chains might collapse on you since they aren’t sturdy enough to hold your body weight. The last thing we want is for your whole vacation to be over in one fell swoop should you have a mishap on one of these.
Don’t Put Your Kids On Trash Cans
Now this one is just generally unsafe to do. Disney rules mention that “Engaging in any unsafe act or other act that may impede the operation of the Walt Disney World Resort or any part thereof” is prohibited, and we can see how plopping the kiddos down on one of these would violate that by creating a safety hazard.
You don’t want to have it happen where a Cast Member comes to ask you that your child come back down quickly and safely.
Don’t Run In The Hotels
Running isn’t allowed in any of the Disney resorts, and walking briskly is really pushing it. Remember, we’re at these places to rest and relax, not run all over the place.
Also, keep in mind the pools around the resorts. You really don’t want to slip and fall, causing yourself serious injury because you were trying to sprint around the pool deck.
Don’t Bring Prohibited Water Toys to the Pool
Before you go and pack your pool toys, make sure to double-check the hotel’s policy on water toys and flotation devices.
While you’re at the pool, follow the posted rules, but keep in mind that when it comes to what you’d like to bring with you, make sure that what you bring to the pool is not a distraction to the lifeguards or a danger to other guests. You’ll find that snorkels and fins, squirting toys, and hard frisbees are not allowed. Oh, and you’ll want to leave those oversized rafts at home too.
These are some pretty common Disney World hotel rules that we’ve seen broken regularly. We just need to be a bit more cautious while at the hotels so we don’t break them in the future. Be sure to stay tuned with us at Disney Food Blog for the latest in news and updates!
