We Got a RARE Souvenir at Disney World’s Trader Sam’s Bar and We Feel SPECIAL 🫅

Have we mentioned how much we love spending time at Disney’s Polynesian Resort? Because we do!

Aloha, Polynesian Village Resort!

The tropical atmosphere really transports you to another land. We love grabbing a Dole Whip from Pineapple Lanai, walking on the beaches, or eating the pork nachos from Capt. Cook’s. Also, the bars at this Disney hotel are amazing — Tambu Lounge, Barefoot Pool Bar, and, of course, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto. We always seem to have a good time here, but on our recent visit, we had a very magical moment happen. 

We were able to get into the Grog Grotto recently, which alone is a minor miracle. If you know about this place, you know it is popular. This is a 51-seat bar that also features interactive elements from special effects throughout the room and zany antics from the bartenders in response to the ordering of certain libations. While the bar opens at 3 PM, you will want to arrive as early as 2 PM to put your name down on the waitlist.

Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto in Disney World

On a recent trip to the bar, we ordered the Polynesian Pearl. This drink is made with RumChata Cream Liqueur, Grand Marnier, and Cinnamon with Tropical Juices. For $22, you get the drink, and you get to keep the pearl. When you order this drink, the giant oyster shell on the bar opens to reveal your pearl. Most of them are a traditional pearl color.

However, on very special occasions, the oyster reveals a black pearl. We were one of the lucky ones to receive this, and honestly, we feel like it’s such an honor.

It’s completely random, and the oyster ultimately decides, but honestly, it was a very magical moment for us. This could happen to you, and if you are a tiki fan, you have to check this bar out.
