REVIEW: Disney Wasn’t Lying When They Said These Wings Were “Unnecessarily Spicy”

There are normal EPCOT Food & Wine Festival booths, and then there’s THIS Food & Wine Festival booth!

Brew-Wing at the Odyssey

The 2023 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival has officially begun and it has a LOT to offer. There are plenty of food booths with tasty eats, merchandise items to grab (of course), and even concerts to watch. But don’t let it overwhelm you: We’ve got you covered with everything you need to know. And now we’re heading to one spot in particular — the Brew-Wing Booth — to give you the FULL scoop! This isn’t just any old booth — it has some special guests inside! Is it worth a try? Let’s find out.

Menu

Over at the Brew-Wing Booth, you’ll find a variety of available items. As the name implies, it has a bunch of brews and lots of wings!

There are different flavors of chicken wings, ranging from your classic Buffalo to more unique flavors like Peanut Butter and Jelly. A few of the wing dishes are returning, but there are also some NEW items on the menu. All of the drinks are new this year.

2023 Menu

Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!

Eats

First up, we grabbed the Orange-Cardamom Wings for $7.50. This is a new dish in 2023, so we couldn’t wait to try it out!

Orange Cardamom Wings

WOW — these had such a unique and unexpected flavor. They were peppery and almost reminded us of eucalyptus? But not in a bad way, it was just floral. The orange sauce was reminiscent of your typical orange chicken from a local takeout joint. We’d get these again just because they were so different!

Up next, we tried the IMPOSSIBLE Buffalo Chicken Tenders with plant-based blue cheese, plant-based ranch, and celery for $7.50. This is another new dish! But how did it taste?

Impossible Tenders

The blue cheese is bright and earthy, just what you’d expect from a tangy blue cheese. The tenders were like what you might get in the frozen meat replacement aisle, but the buffalo flavor made us not even care. This is a great option for plant-based eaters!

Tendies

The last new item on the food menu is the Unnecessarily Spicy, Yet Extremely Tasty Scotch Bonnet Pepper-Curry Wings with cool cucumber yogurt for $7.50. “Extremely tasty” is in the name, so we had high hopes for this dish!

Scotch Bonnet Curry

The topping was very creamy, and holy moly — they weren’t kidding when they said that these were unnecessarily spicy! Our lips were tingling like we had just put on a lip-plumping gloss (IYKYK). It was extremely heavy on the curry flavor as well, which made these super multi-dimensional. But fair warning, these are seriously HOT!

Aside from those new items, there were several returning wing dishes. We had the Peanut Butter and Jelly Sticky Wings (for $7.50) back in 2022 and thought they were actually really good, despite the unusual flavors! They really are a PB&J wing (that name’s not lying to you) but in a very delicious way.

We also had the Garlic-Parmesan Wings for $7.50 last year! These were DRENCHED in garlic and cheese. Although they were messy, they had a strong garlic flavor that we loved.

Of course, there are also Traditional Buffalo Wings with celery and ranch for $7.50. Last year, we thought they were simple, good, and had a nice kick. They’re pretty basic, but if you’re looking for a solid Buffalo wing dish, this won’t let you down.

But wait — there’s one more item on the menu, but it’s actually NOT wings! The Buffalo Brussels Sprouts with plant-based blue cheese and plant-based ranch for $5 are returning this year.

In 2022, we thought these were a bit undercooked and lacking in flavor, so we’re hoping they’ll be better in 2023.

Drinks

All of the drinks are new this year — let’s check them out! First up, we got the Frozen Fusion for $4.75. This is a non-alcoholic drink made with Twinings Pomegranate and Raspberry Herbal Tea fused with orange ice cream molecules. This was extremely refreshing and tasted like candy — kiddos would probably love it. Definitely on the sweeter side, and reminded us of a frozen Shirley Temple!

Up next is an…UNUSUAL drink! It’s the non-alcoholic PICKLE MILKSHAKE for $5.75. We can’t say we’ve ever wanted a milkshake flavored with pickles, but here we are. Imagine drinking straight out of the pickle jar, except it’s the consistency of ice cream. It was salty, sour, and bitter, but also somehow sweet. It was certainly something Dr. Honeydew and Beeker would have cooked up in a lab.

Pickle Milkshake

The rest of the drinks on the menu are alcoholic. We tried the Beer Flight, which comes with Sun King Brewing Caipirinha Lager, Brew Hub French Connection IPA, and 3 Daughters Brewing Old Fashion Porter for $10.

The Sun King Brewing Caipirinha Lager was light and refreshing, and we wouldn’t mind drinking this throughout a festival day. It didn’t have any fruity or floral notes.

The Brew Hub French Connection IPA was much more floral than we were anticipating but had a deep complexity you’d expect from an IPA. And yes, it was hoppy.

The 3 Daughters Brewing Old Fashion Porter was, well, a porter. It was pretty malty and yeasty tasting, and a lot thicker than the other beers. Not something we’d consider refreshing in the Florida heat.

Beer Flight

Finally, we tried the Cider Flight, which comes with Blake’s Hard Cider Co. Tropicolada Hard Cider, Bold Rock Peach Berry Hard Cider, and 3 Daughters Brewing Raspberry Lemonade Hard Cider for $10.

The Tropicolada Hard Cider was our favorite of this flight. It was sweet and fruity!

The Peach Berry Hard Cider wasn’t too sweet, and was the least fruity of the three.

The Raspberry Lemonade Hard Cider was more on the tart side, but was still a pretty fruity cider.

OVERALL

The Brew-Wing at the Odyssey Booth may sound like just your typical beer and wings spot, but it’s so much more! And with the addition of Muppet Labs (AKA Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker appearing via video on loop), you not only get delicious eats but a fun experience to boot. We especially love PB&J wings, and if you’re looking for something spicy you should definitely check out the Scotch Bonnet Curry Wings! That Pickle Milkshake is just too interesting to pass up, too.
