FIRST LOOK at NEW Genie Pricing in Disney World

Genie+ just CHANGED in Disney World, so of course we had to check it out today and see what’s different about it.

Disney Genie

Disney announced a little while ago that Genie+ would be changing to have park-specific pricing, so now the cost of the line-skipping service will vary both by date and by which park you plan to visit. We bought Genie+ today so that we could show you how the process is different now — let’s check it out!

You’ll continue to purchase Genie+ through the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit. Currently, sales are available beginning at midnight, and all visitors can make their first Genie+ selection starting at 7AM. (Keep in mind that you may need to update your app when this change goes live.)

Now, when you open up your Genie Tip Board in the My Disney Experience App, you no longer see today’s price for Genie+, because that price is different for each park. Instead, there’s an option to view the prices and purchase Genie+.

We clicked on that option and were taken to a page that details what Genie+ is and how it works.

There are both single-park and multi-park options for Genie+. It looks like there’s just ONE multi-park price, so that price will not change based on which two (or more) parks you plan to visit. (For example, if you were planning to go to both Disney’s Animal Kingdom and EPCOT in the same day, it will cost the same as if you plan to visit Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.) It also looks like the multi-park option and Magic Kingdom will be the most expensive options.

Pricing

Remember that these offerings are subject to availability — Genie+ can and does sell out during busy times!

Today, the prices were as follows:

  • Multiple Parks (valid with Park Hopper benefits): $27
  • Magic Kingdom: $27
  • EPCOT: $18
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios: $24
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom: $16

Remember that these prices can and will change depending on the day. On busier days (like summer break and the holiday season), we’ll likely see them go up, and when Disney World is less crowded, we’ll probably see them go down. However, it seems likely that the parks with the highest prices now (Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios) will continue to have higher prices and Animal Kingdom and EPCOT will continue to be cheaper.

Main Street

You can click “See Experiences” on each option to find out which attractions are included in Genie+. Remember that some rides have Individual Lightning Lanes that you’ll have to purchase SEPARATELY from Genie+ in order to skip the lines there.

Rides included with Genie+

From what we can see, it looks like the list of included attractions is the same as it was before the change. (These screenshots are not the full list — you can scroll in the app to view them all.)

More rides

You’ll pick which park you want to visit (or the multi-park option) and then continue to the next page, where you’ll confirm who you’re purchasing Genie+ for. Be sure to check all members of your party.

Confirm your party

Then you’ll view your cart, which will have a subtotal (tax is not listed here — it will be added on in the next stage) and you can click “continue to checkout.”

Check-out page

From here, you’ll just enter payment information and confirm your purchase. Overall, the process is pretty similar to how Genie+ was purchased before, only now you choose which park you want to visit.

EPCOT

Several readers have sent in questions about the changes, and we’ll be testing those out and reporting back to you today, so stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more updates!
