FULL TOUR of a Star Wars Hotel Room in Disney World

We’ve already established that a stay at Disney World’s Star Wars hotel, the Galactic Starcruiser, is certainly NOT cheap, although discounts are now being offered to select visitors.

We’ve also stressed that this is so much more than JUST a themed hotel stay, with an experience that basically has you roleplaying your own character in an adventure that takes place in a galaxy far, far away. However, you’ll still need to sleep at some point, so you might be curious as to what the rooms are like on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. So we’re going to tell you all about it!

So first, let’s talk a little more about the Galactic Starcruiser concept. This is Disney storytelling at its finest, and part of that experience is in your cabin, which includes a view of the stars flying by during your voyage. It’s a two-day cruise in space that includes an interactive adventure, themed food, and unique entertainment.

There are three types of cabins you can book for this adventure: the Standard Cabin, the Galaxy Class Suite, and the Grand Captain Suite.

We’re going to give you an inside look at a standard cabin. So here’s a full tour of the room.

Before you enter your room, you’ll need a databand (aka a MagicBand) to open the door to your cabin.

But these doors are not made like regular hotel room doors. Instead, once unlocked, you’ll slide the door open to go inside. Very space-like.

Once you enter the room, you might be a little shocked at just how small they are — in fact, they’re smaller than real cruise cabins. When we stayed, we had three adults in the room, and it felt a little crowded at times. Upon entering, there’s a small hallway with a door to the bathroom on one side and a door to the closet on the other.

We’ll start our tour in the bathroom. It’s a split design with the sink and shower in one room and a smaller room with a door for the toilet.

You will find some amenities on the sink, including packets of make-up remover wipes and foam bubbling face masks — yep, spa day in space, right? There are also dispensers with lotion and hand soap.

You’ll find towels hanging up in the bathroom, but if you need more, there are shelves under the sink that have extra towels. You’ll also find a hairdryer under the sink in its own box.

The sink area is separated from the toilet room by a sliding door, which comes in handy if you have multiple people using the bathroom at any given time. Inside the toilet room, you’ll just find the toilet, a toilet paper holder, special Chandrila Star Line toilet paper, and more bath towels. There’s also a full-length mirror on the wall here.

The toilet room is pretty simple.

The shower is really nice, though! The main showerhead is a waterfall one (oh, yeah!) that’s attached to the ceiling, but you also get a detachable handheld shower if you need that, too. The shower is separated from the rest of the room by a sliding frosted glass door.

Just like any other Disney hotel, your shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are in special dispensers on the wall. Also, like at other Disney hotels, these are all H20 products.

Okay, let’s back out of the bathroom and go back to that little hallway at the room’s entrance. Opposite the bathroom, you’ll find a light-up mirror, as well as another shelf with storage underneath. There’s an outlet here, too, so you can plug in the hair dryer or any electronics you might have.

There’s a complimentary bottle of water on the counter with two spacey tumblers. You can refill this bottle as much as you’d like in the atrium.

Next to the alcove with this mirror is the closet area, which is the main storage area for the room. In the first cabinet, there are three shelves that can be used for storing your stuff.

You’ll find two more shelves below that. One holds the room safe…

…and the other holds the “Cooling Supply Unit.” Yep, that’s the mini fridge — by mini, we mean MINI. Like super tiny.

The cabinet next to all that is where you can hang your clothes. You’ll also find hangers, two Chandrila Star Line robes here, as well as an extra blanket and pillow.

Let’s walk into the main part of the room. You’ll find a control panel on the wall next to the wardrobe. That’s where you’ll find your telephone, thermostat, and your own personal droid (remember, you’re on a luxury Starcruiser!).

Your new droid friend is D3-09. You can speak to her through the screen on the wall — she’ll keep you updated on things going on around the ship, as well as any events that have happened in the story. This is NOT a personal assistant, so he’s only available at certain times, but she will sing you to sleep if you ask nicely.

You’ll find the TV on the same wall that is EXACTLY the same as the TVs in other Disney hotels. Yep, it’s all the same channels and things you’d find if you were staying at Disney’s All-Stars Resorts. The pull-down bed is also on this wall.

The pull-down bed is large enough to fit most adults, although if you are taller than 5’8,” it might not be super comfortable for you. It folds back into the wall when not in use.

You’ll also find bunk beds in the cabin, but don’t worry, they will fit full-grown adults. BUT we have to admit we didn’t find them that comfy. Each of these beds has a mattress covered in vinyl that pretty much feels like sleeping on a firm futon. You won’t get any sheets on these beds either — just a bright orange blanket. The ladder is attached to the foot of the bed and the top bunk has a small barrier.

These beds also have ZERO outlets or USB ports, which feels like a huge oversight.

There’s also a queen-sized bed in the middle of the cabin (and we guess adults will be fighting over who gets to sleep in it). This one is dressed up with actual sheets and a blanket, plus a runner down the middle with the Chandrila Star Line logo.

No need to sleep in the bunks if you don’t want to.

There’s a nightstand on each side of the bed with outlets and individual lights.

It’s not huge — just enough storage for a few small items.

If you happen to need more storage, you’ll find a luggage compartment underneath the queen bed — there’s enough space to fit in several suitcases at once.

There is a table with chairs in the room, but it’s set up that the table pulls out from the wall, with two orange stools underneath it. It’s not made for lounging for hours, but you can enjoy a quick snack here.

Okay, remember those views of space we mentioned earlier? Well, above that small table is the window that looks out on space. If the whole space view gets to be a bit much, though, there’s a button you can press that closes it. You’ll even see those stars whiz by when the ship jumps into Hyperspace.

You’ll also find a small trash can and recycling bin in each room.

You’ll also find an emergency exit hatch next to the space window that will let you get out of your room if the electronic door cannot be opened.

To sum up, the room is small, but at least there’s plenty of storage. You also do get that feeling that you’re on a spaceship cruising through space.

Galaxy Class Suite

We also got to take a look at the Galaxy Class Suite, which is a one-bedroom suite with a separate bedroom and seating area, plus a bathroom and kitchenette. Fancy!

These suites can sleep up to four adults and include a queen bed and two pull-down bunks (one in the bedroom and one in the seating area). There are also space windows in BOTH rooms. As you can see, these rooms are bigger, too.

The bathroom in the suite is also larger than the bathroom in the standard cabin. The suite has two sinks, so more people can get ready in the bathroom.

The shower is HUGE and has shower heads on BOTH sides. You’ll also find those H20 bath products in here.

The suites also have their own kitchenette that includes a bar area with stools and a counter. Behind the counter is a sink, you’ll find a storage area with dishes, and a larger mini-fridge.

There’s also a crawl space between the two rooms: just slide open the doors next to the pull-down beds to crawl between the seating area and the bedroom. Kids will LOVE that. But who doesn’t want to crawl around on a spaceship?

There’s a control panel in these rooms, too, with the phone, thermostat, and personal droid.

You’ll also find many of the same amenities in the suite, including a hair dryer, safe, and TV.

Grand Captain Suite

Of course, if you want to live it up on the Halcyon, you can stay in a Grand Captain Suite, which is good for up to eight people. This room has two bedrooms and a living area that includes two queen beds, two bunk beds, and two pull-down beds. There are also two bathrooms, a bar area, three windows with space views, plus all the regular amenities.
