FULL REVIEW of PizzeRizzo at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios has a lot of food choices to grab a bite while you’re getting in your thrill rides.

Tower of Terror

Riding rides can work up an appetite. When you get hungry at Hollywood Studios, there are quick-service and table-service restaurants to choose from. There are also yummy snacks like the Wookie Cookie or a Lunch Box Tart from Woody’s Lunch Box. We’re going to take a look at a quick-service option here that you might be passing right by.

PizzeRizzo is a counter-service restaurant located on Grand Avenue in Hollywood Studios. PizzeRizzo serves up pizza and other fast-food Italian options, in a restaurant “owned and operated” by none other than the Muppet Rizzo the Rat! We stopped by for lunch to try out some items to review for you!

Atmosphere

You can find PizzeRizzo on Grand Avenue right across from Muppet Vision 3D. There is a giant sign on top of the restaurant ensuring you can’t miss it.

PizzeRizzo on Grand Avenue

As you walk up to the large building, you can begin to see the theming of a city pizza place. The brick facade and red and green signs give you a hint of what you can experience from the restaurant. This building used to be home to Pizza Planet — a Toy Story-themed restaurant that also served pizza. It closed in January 2016 and reopened as PizzeRizzo in November 2016. If you look closely at the sign it says “The Best Pizza on the Planet” as a little homage to the original restaurant.

Outside of the building, you’ll find a FuelRod station. FuelRods are available for purchase for $30 and come with a portable power bank and charging cords. This is very convenient if you’d like to charge your phone while you eat. FuelRods can be a good investment in Disney World because the stations are located throughout the parks and resorts, and you can exchange your “dead” fuel rod for a fully charged one.

There are also condiment stations outside that house parmesan cheese packets, red pepper packets, salt, pepper, sugars, and creamers.

There is also a pressed penny machine outside that features 3 different Muppet Vision characters you can get as a souvenir.

Pressed pennies

We have to mention the trashcans. Throughout the restaurant, you’ll see themed trashcans that have funny messages from Rizzo himself. This one lets you know to clean up after yourself.

Clean it up!

The benefit of this restaurant is that there are a lot of seating options. Outside you’ll find covered table and chair seating under large fans.

Covered outdoor seating

There are also some smaller bistro tables with umbrellas just across from the restaurant.

When you walk inside, you’ll find the ordering area to your right. On the left you’ll be able to order at the counter, however they do offer Mobile Ordering as well, for easy pick up.

In the ordering area, you’ll find charming photos on the walls — and even Papa Rizzo’s Apron from 1916.

There rare also booths and table seating indoors on the bottom floor.

And if you take the stairs or the elevator up, you’ll find plenty more seating and some fun surprises.

There is second-floor covered outdoor seating here. There are also fans to keep it cool.

Inside there are booths and tables to choose from on the second floor.

The walls on the second floor also feature decor giving you a New York City feel. Signs like the subway station help set the stage for this pizza place.

There is a bulletin board upstairs that features some fun nods to other Muppets like Fozzie’s Funny Business and Swedish Chef’s Wedding Cakes.

The fun details

The star of the upstairs is the banquet hall. You can see this sign posted outside of the hall where today they were hosting a wedding reception for Gil & Lill.

Typical Muppet humor!

Inside the banquet hall, you will find pop music pumping, a disco ball, and colored lights. There are plenty of tables inside this fun room to give you a lighter vibe for lunch.

Super fun!

MENU

The menu here is pretty limited to pizza, salads and sandwiches you might find in a small pizza joint. There are four different pizzas you can choose from — Pepperoni and Sausage, Pepperoni, Vegetable, and Cheese. There is also an Antipasto Salad and a Meatball Sub.

They have a plant-based option of a Spicy Italian “Sausage” Sub. While we didn’t order it today, we have tried the plant-based suvb in the past and think it’s one of the best things on the menu. There are 3 sides you can choose from with your entree; Caesar Salad, Mini Babybel Snack Cheese, and a Cutie Mandarin.

For Kids Meals, there are two Disney Check Meals. These are meals that meet Disney’s nutrition guidelines. There is a Mini Chicken Sub and a Cheese Pizza. Both come with a Strawberry-flavored Yogurt Smoothie, a Cuties Mandarin, and a choice of Lowfat Milk or DASANI bottled water. There are two other kids’ meals, including a Pepperoni Pizza and Macaroni & Cheese.

There are two dessert options here. A cannoli and a pizza cookie — which is a sugar cookie with Strawberry Jam, White Chocolate, and Sprinkles.

To drink, there are assorted fountain drinks from Coca-Cola, Bottled Water, Milk, Coffee, Tea, Hot Cocoa and more.

They do serve alcoholic beverages including a Frozen Apple Cider, a Frozen Italian Margarita, and wine.

There are also allergy-friendly options. Just let a Cast Member know of your allergy needs, and they will be able to recommend items for you.

Eats

We did a mobile order, and our My Disney Experience app let us know our order was ready for pickup. We headed to the Mobile Order Pickup Station to give the Cast Member our Order Number.

Our food was on our tray ready for us to pick up.

Order’s ready!

For our entrees, we tried three things: the Vegetable Pizza, the Meatball Sub, and the Kids’ Check Meal Mini Chicken Sub.

First up, we have the Vegetable Pizza for $11.29. It features a Pizza topped with Mushrooms, Tomatoes, Peppers, and Onions.

Vegetable Pizza

The vegetables were nicely grilled and added a lot of flavor to the typical Disney “puff” pizza. While the crust isn’t anything out of the ordinary, the vegetables really elevate this pizza. We think it’s a great option here.

A slice of pizza

The pizza came with a side, so we chose baby carrots. These carrots come pre-packaged and can be thrown in your bag as a snack for later in the day. They do not come with a dressing for dipping.

Baby carrots

Next, we tried the Meatball Sub for $10.49. The Hoagie Roll is stuffed with Seasoned Meatballs, Mariana Sauce, and Provolone Cheese. The sub roll was toasted which added a nice crunch to it.

Meatball sub

The meatballs were large and well seasoned. The mariana could have used more flavoring to really complement the meatballs. It is a large sub and a good portion for the price. Overall, if you’re wanting something besides pizza from the restaurant, this is a great choice.

The inside

The sub did come with a side so we chose a side Casear salad. The dressing comes on the salad ahead of time so the leaves were a little soggy from sitting in the dressing. The croutons were crispy and tasted fresh. The salad isn’t anything special but a good way to add something fresh with your meal here.

Finally, we tried the Kids’ Disney Check Meal, Mini Chicken Sub for $6.99.

Mini Chicken Sub

We have to be honest here, we would not order this again. The roll was doughy and did not have any flavor. The chicken was shredded and had no flavor. It was very dry, which even the marinara sauce on the sub did not help. It just lacked flavor all around.

Inside the sub

It did come with two sides so we chose apple slices

… and a Cuties Mandarin. Both of these were as you’d expect and would make a great snack for later if you fill up on food.

Cuties

Overall

With so many other great quick service restaurants at Hollywood Studios, PizzeRizzo has just never been on our must-visit list. There are great choices in the park that offer a large variety of food. While it does offer good options for quick pizza, you might notice a lack of flavor. The atmosphere is fun — especially for Muppets fans — and it does offer a ton of indoor and outdoor seating, which could be helpful in the summer.  As we were leaving, Rizzo himself came out to say hello.
