Could This Be the Prettiest Snack in Disney World?
Are you headed to Disney World this month?
If you are, you’re in for a LOT of new food. First, there’s the EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival, which just kicked off — you’ll find LOADS of new food at the food booths there. But it’s also Women’s History Month, and Disney World is offering some special snacks to celebrate. So we found one of the PRETTIEST of the new snacks and tried it.
The snack is the Earl Grey Tea Sponge Cake, and it’s an Earl grey tea sponge cake with lavender yogurt cream on top of a meringue topped with a white chocolate decoration and crispy pearls. Yes, it looks as delicate as it sounds. Isn’t it BEAUTIFUL?
But beauty is in the eye of the beholder — or in this case, the eater (that’s us) — so does that beauty extend to how this thing tastes? We will say that the cake has a good Earl grey spiced tea flavor and isn’t very dry. You can also taste the lavender in the cream. The flavors were actually great.
BUT we really feel like there should have been some kind of filling between the cake and the cream. Also, that “cream” wasn’t cream at all, but that weird gelatin topping thing that Disney puts on so many of its desserts (you know what we’re talking about, right?). So the texture just feels off. The dessert is also VERY VERY sweet, which we didn’t expect because the description makes it sound so light.
It IS a unique dessert and if you’re looking for something pretty to post to your Instagram, it photographs very well. We also LOVE that little cameo brooch on top inspired by Marie Curie.
