Controversial Dining Change Made at Chef Mickey’s in Disney World

It’s been almost three years since Disney World’s historic COVID-19-related closure and reopening, but things are still slowly getting back to “normal” at the resort.

Mickey at Chef Mickey’s

Within the last few months, we’ve seen more character experiences return to the parks, we’ve seen the reopening of restaurants, and we’ve seen the return of some experiences that had been gone for years. Buffets have also come back to many restaurants. And as of March 1st, that includes Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, so let’s head over there and check it out!

Chef Mickey’s is a character dining experience that is open for breakfast and dinner. Previously, meals here were served family style, but as of March 1st, the buffet has returned!

The return of a buffet can be controversial. Some folks absolutely love buffets and the idea of serving their own food from the various selections available. But others are NOT fans of buffets at all, whether that’s due to cleanliness concerns, fears that they’ll miss a chance to see the characters when they get up from the table to get their food, or the challenges that can come with making sure a little kiddo gets their buffet eats without knocking things down. What side are you on?

Whether you love ’em or hate ’em, the buffet is back at Chef Mickey’s so it’s something you’ll have to consider when thinking about booking a reservation here.

First of all, pricing has changed here a bit. Here’s a look at the differences:

  • Breakfast: Previously: $45 per adult and $29 per child — now: $51 per adult and $33 per child
  • Dinner: Previously: $60 per adult and $38 per child — now: $62 per adult and $39 per child

Then it was time to get a look at the menu! We stopped by for breakfast and the buffet offerings listed on the menu included biscuits and gravy, waffles, fruits, and more.
