TRON Lightcycle / Run Hits Major Milestone in Disney World

Get ready for your jaw to DROP.

TRON Sign

For what feels like forever, we have been watching for construction updates from TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom. With its April 4th opening date approaching, Cast Member previews on the way, and information revealed about the ride’s virtual queue, we’re getting more and more news each day. And now we’ve got a STUNNING update from the ride.

Disney has shared that the “curved wave” canopy for the TRON ride — which is called the Upload Conduit — was “officially” powered on in its entirety recently.

We’ve seen the canopy lit up at night before, but now the full canopy has been illuminated, and it’s pretty amazing!

Just look at how the “Upload Conduit” looks with some fireworks in the background — talk about an epic moment.

The Upload Conduit will serve as the “digital bridge” into The Grid on this attraction. The canopy is made of nearly 40 pieces.

But the lights don’t simply illuminate the canopy in a single way. What’s really spectacular is that when Lightcycles pass by, the lights on the Upload Conduit dance across the canopy and leave glowing hexagons.

In the video below, you can see one moment in the ride when Team Orange is coming after Team Blue, and Team Blue will have to outrun them into the Grid!

What makes things even better is that the lighting effects are partnered with “familiar music” from the soundtrack for TRON: Legacy.

We can’t wait to stand below this canopy once the ride has officially opened and experience it fully with Lightcycles racing through, guests aboard the ride, and the music pumped in.

Remember that TRON Lightcycle / Run opens on April 4th, 2023, and Park Passes for that day (for all guests except Annual Passholders) are still available. Cast Member, Annual Passholder, and Disney Vacation Club previews for the ride have been announced.

Testing the adaptive seating

Disney has shared that the ride will have a virtual queue (no “regular” standby line), along with an Individual Lightning Lane option. Plus, guests will need to use lockers to put away their belongings, and an on-ride photo and video will be available.

We’re continuing to watch for more TRON news, so stay tuned!
