The 3 Best Ways to Get The MOST Out of Your Disney World Dining Card!

Disney World is bringing us an exciting promo for vacations in 2023! The Disney World Dining Card is essentially a gift card that you can use at most Disney World restaurants.

Let’s save on some Disney World FOOD!

We’re always looking for ways to save money on Disney World trips, and we know you are, too, so let’s look at some ideas for using these extra dining dollars!

First off, if you haven’t booked a trip with this deal yet, you probably should soon. Disney says it has limited availability, so it could sell out for the dates you want.

The offer is good for up to a $750 Dining Promo Card. Here are the values based on travel dates and resorts:

  • At value resorts — $35 per night if your arrival date is between June 25th and June 30th or July 11th and the 31st, and $50 per night if your arrival date is between July 1st and the 10th or August 1st and September 14th
  • At moderate resorts — $75 per night if your arrival date falls between June 25th and June 30th or July 11th and the 31st, and $100 per night if your arrival date falls between July 1st and the 10th or August 1st and September 14th
  • At deluxe resorts — $125 per night if your arrival date falls between June 25th and June 30th or July 11th and the 31st, and $150 per night if your arrival date falls between July 1st and the 10th or August 1st and September 14th

Will you go to Disney World with this deal?

If you book with this deal, you’ll get the dining promo card in your email after you have checked in to your reservation. You will be able to save it to your phone’s wallet and use it at most dining locations around Disney World until you have used up your credit — which could be up to $750 if you take full advantage of this deal.

Where can’t you use the dining card? — mainly at the restaurants at hotels on Disney World property not owned by Disney. We’ve got a full list of those locations, and answers to lots of your other questions about this Dining Card offer here

Now we’re the first to tell you this offer seems complicated, and you might want to use a travel agent that specializes in Disney World trips to book it for you. We recommend contacting Small World Vacations if you don’t have a travel agent you already use. And you can read more about why we recommend using a travel agent here.

Now, how are you going to USE this Disney Dining Card? We have IDEAS. We’re all about Disney FOOD here at DFB. We even wrote the book on it! Check out our DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining in an ebook format you can easily download to your tablet or smartphone. We’ll even save you some money on it — use code WDW2023 to save 25% on the cover price!

We’re going to break our Disney Dining Card ideas down into two categories for you — Budget-Stretchers and Splurges.

Budget-Stretchers

Perhaps you want to try to get the very best bang for your buck out of your Disney Dining Card. After all, it’s not often that Disney World hands us FREE food. (OK, we know you’re paying for the vacation, and nothing’s really free, but still … it is a deal here, so let’s use it to the fullest advantage.)

Split Meals

We all know of that one place where we should just ask for the to-go box when we order, because the portions are huge and we’re going to have leftovers. Well, we’ve got some recommendations about some meals that are bigger than one person can eat at Disney World. If we’re making the most out of that dining card, splitting meals could be the way to go. Here are some shareable entrees:

Columbia Harbour House  — The Trio Platter at this popular Magic Kingdom spot features Fried Shrimp, Chicken Tenders, Battered Fish, Hushpuppies, and your choice of side for $14.29.

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe — The all-beef footlong hot dog topped with chili and cheese at Cosmic Ray’s in Magic Kingdom is a huge sandwich that can be easily cut in half and enjoyed by two.

Sunshine Seasons — The Oak-Grilled Rotisserie Chicken Platter here comes with a huge serving of roasted chicken, as well as black beans and yellow rice — all for $12.79.

La Cantina de San Angel — Over at EPCOT’s Mexico, the taco trio — which consists of barbacoa, camaron, and pollo tacos — is easy to share, especially because you can split the serving of rice and beans it comes with for $14.99.

Woody’s LunchboxThe BBQ Brisket Melt at Woody’s Lunchbox in Hollywood Studios is another great sharable option. It’s easy to split this sandwich that features Shredded Smoked Brisket, Pickles, and Tangy Barbecue Sauce between Melted Cheddar and Monterey Jack on Grilled Sourdough Bread.

Flame Tree Barbecue — One of our OG-favorite shareable meals is the Ribs and Chicken combo at Flame Tree Barbecue in Animal Kingdom! With ribs, chicken, cole slaw, and baked beans for $15.69, this is a great value for the money.

Choose Snacks Instead of Meals

Disney World has a plethora of snacks available, and sometimes, we like to just snack our way around the World rather than sit down for full meals. Here are a few snacks we would choose over a meal every time!

Eight Spoon Cafe — Over at Eight Spoon Cafe in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is the Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Pulled Pork for $6.79. This snack is pretty hefty and comes with macaroni and cheese topped with pulled pork, barbecue sauce, and some pickles.

Sleepy Hollow Refreshments — You can get the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich here which has strawberries, bananas, blueberries, and chocolate-hazelnut spread (Nutella!) for $8.49.

Woody’s Lunch Box — What are Totchos, you ask? Why, they’re Tater Tot nachos, of course! These are potato barrels coated with beef and bean chili, shredded cheese and signature queso with tomatoes and corn chips. They’re then finished with sour cream and a sprinkle of green onions for $9.99.

TOTCHOS!

Splurges

Maybe you’ve already saved up and budgeted for the food on your Disney World vacation, and now you’re getting the 2023 Disney Dining Card promotion. You could look at this little windfall as an excuse to splurge on a dining experience or two you hadn’t planned on!

Signature Dining

Victoria & Albert’s — Maybe, just maybe, now’s the time to visit the most critically acclaimed restaurant at Disney World. If this experience has been out-of-reach for your budget before, perhaps the food savings from the dining card will make it a splurge you can afford this once! Just remember that reservations go super quickly here, so be ready to make your Advance Dining Reservation as early as you can.

Jiko — This spot in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is known for its tranquil atmosphere, and its beautiful, delicious food. As a signature dining location, it is priced on the higher end of Disney World dining, but we highly recommend a trip there!

California Grill — Is there anything that beats a Disney World fireworks view with dinner? This iconic experience is one you’ll probably remember for a long time — but it doesn’t come cheap. You could use your Disney World Dining Card to help you afford it!

Character Dining

Perhaps having some extra money for food in your pocket (or saved on your phone, in this case), would allow you to take the family to an extra character dining experience! Characters have returned to many dining locations in the past several months. Here are some of our faves!

Best Friends Breakfast at ‘Ohana — You can meet Mickey, Pluto, Lilo, and Stitch at this breakfast at the Polynesian Village Resort.

Mickey can be cheeky sometimes

Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Harvest Feast at Garden Grill — This rotating restaurant in The Land Pavilion at EPCOT serves a family-style meal that includes vegetables grown right there in the pavilion. The food is delicious, and meeting Chip, Dale, Pluto, and Mickey in his overalls is super fun, too.

Farmer Mickey is absolutely precious.

Breakfast a la Art at Topolino’s Terrace — This rooftop restaurant at Disney’s Riviera Resort has one of our favorite character breakfast experiences! You can meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy here, and since it’s an art-themed breakfast, they are all showing off the clothes they wear to pursue their creative hobbies.

Did you know Daisy is a dancer?

One More Thing

Our final tip for using your Disney Dining Card is simple — until it’s not. USE IT ALL. You would probably be surprised at how many people leave Disney World with a few bucks left on some gift cards, or back in the days of the Disney Dining Plan — a bunch of snack credits.

You’ve booked this trip because of the discount offer, so be sure you’re taking advantage of the full discount. Start using the card early in your trip — don’t wait until the end. And if you see on your final day that you’re going to have some leftover money on the card, splurge on some extra ice cream or a fancy coffee.
