Why You’ll Want To Go See Disney’s GIANT Gingerbread House ASAP

The holidays are already in full swing in Disney World, with decorations, merchandise, and ride overlays in the parks. If you’re visiting for the holiday season, don’t forget to check out the Disney World HOTELS as well — some of the coolest decorations and most delicious snacks can be found there!

We’ve been closely watching the construction of the GIANT gingerbread house that goes up every year in the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, and now we have an exciting update to share! (Here’s a hint: it involves FREE treats!)

The giant gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian started to go up on November 1st this year.

First look at the construction

We checked back in later to see that Cast Members were adding details (like roof shingles!) to the structure.

It’s all coming together!

Now they’ve made even more progress. It looks like most of the basic structure is finished, with a few areas still in need of a gingerbread covering.

While we were there, one Cast Member, Fabi, was putting on the first holiday decoration for the house! This year’s house will have an EARidescent theme (like the one last year), with purple and blue decorations to celebrate Disney World’s 50th anniversary.

When the house is finished, it’ll become a sweets shop where you can buy various holiday treats. In the past, this shop has even sold shingles from the house itself. But while we were watching the construction, we saw that Brittany (another friendly Cast Member) was handing out free samples of the gingerbread!

If you’re near the Grand Floridian now, you can hurry in to see if those free samples are still available — they’re not usually handed out once the shop officially opens.

What’s in the house?
