Queso, Tacos, and Amazing Service? Our REVIEW of La Hacienda de San Angel in EPCOT

If you’re looking for a delicious sit down meal, World Showcase at EPCOT is chock full of options!

La Hacienda de San Angel

It has fancy spots like Takumi-Tei, Monsieur Paul, or Le Cellier, as well as casual and tried-and-true faves like Chefs de France or Via Napoli. But what about the Mexico Pavilion? We recently stopped by La Hacienda de San Angel to review the menu and share our thoughts!

Atmosphere

There are two sit-down restaurants in the Mexico Pavilion. The one you’re more familiar with is likely San Angel Inn, which is located INSIDE the big pyramid. However, the spot we’re visiting today is outside, in the building connected to La Cantina de San Angel.

La Hacienda de San Angel is only open for dinner each day, so hours will be limited. We made a reservation ahead of time. Once it’s time for your reservation, you can check in through the My Disney Experience app or at the counter just inside the restaurant.

La Hacienda de San Angel check-in

It’s situated right next to World Showcase Lagoon, so some tables with a window seat will be able to look out across the water.

There are some window seats.

We were directed to a booth in the corner — the lightning in here is a little dark if you’re tucked away on the opposite wall like we were.

All in all, it’s a very cozy vibe; warm and inviting, making you feel nice and relaxed.

Menu

The menu here has a variety of Mexican and Latin American options. The starters include things like guacamole, queso fundido, and flautas.

When it comes to entrees, they have a list of regular selections, as well as some house specialties. The house specialties are definitely on the pricier side. The whole menu varies from $27 per entree to $68 for a dish that serves two.

And like any delicious restaurant, there are plenty of sides and desserts to choose from!

The kids’ menu has tacos, quesadillas, chicken tenders, and more. They also have some simple appetizers like salad and fruit, as well as a few desserts in smaller portions.

Now that we’ve seen the options for ordering, let’s get some eats!

Eats

Let’s start things out with an appetizer! We ordered the Queso Fundido which is $15 and is melted cheese served with chorizo, peppers, and onions, as well as a side of flour tortillas.

Queso Fundido

It was served nice and hot and was perfectly melty with a strong cheesy flavor. The chorizo added some spice, but it was balanced well with the avocado crema on top. We think this would be the perfect size for four people to share.

That’s cheesy!

We decided to get two entrees, the first of which was the Tacos de Camarones. They’re flour tortillas with fried shrimp, chipotle-lime aioli, cabbage, and salsa verde. On the side, we were given rice and beans.

Tacos de Camarones

The tacos were $31 and our favorite part of the meal! The slaw was fresh and crisp, and the shrimp were fried perfectly. The sauce had some heat, but it was balanced out well with the fresh flavors in the slaw.

Served with rice and beans!

The tortillas were soft, but they were sturdy enough to hold the weight of the taco toppings. We’d definitely order this again!

Delicious. Delicious. Delicious!

The other thing we ordered was the Chile Relleno for $27. It’s a poblano pepper with rice, black beans, zucchini, and cotija cheese, all served with salsa rojo.

Chile Relleno

There was nothing spicy about this entree — the rice was cooked just right and the salsa had a smooth taste. The zucchini and some diced peppers were mixed into the rice, and some of the zucchini pieces were quite large.

Surprisingly not spicy.

We thought this was pretty good, but not as spectacular as the tacos. We’d probably recommend it though, especially if you’ve been a fan of this item in the past. If you don’t like zucchini, you might want to skip it.

Looks yummy!

For dessert, we got the Sorbet Trio for $10. It comes with an assortment of seasonal Mexican-flavored sorbets with a berry coulis.

Sorbet Trio

We got dragonfruit, passionfruit, and tamarind flavors in our trio. The dragonfruit was barely sweet with a nice mild taste, while the passionfruit tasted a lot like pineapple and reminded us of Dole Whip. The tamarind was very earthy, and our reporter described it as a “wood-like” taste. Not our favorite for sure.

Sorbets!

So what are our final thoughts on La Hacienda de San Angel?

Overall

This restaurant is definitely a bit of a hidden gem! It’s a location that’s not super obvious, and people often skip it in favor of eating inside the pyramid, but we definitely recommend stopping by. La Hacienda de San Angel had amazing service and we enjoyed most everything we ate.

If you’re looking for a delicious Mexican meal in EPCOT, this is a great pick. It’s a little pricier as far as mid-range table service spots go, but the experience was overall delightful. We’d love to go back again and try more eats!

Nosh or Not

Pay a visit to La Hacienda de San Angel if…

  • You’re looking for some high-quality Mexican food in Disney World. It was a delicious meal, and the flavors were top-notch.
  • You want to try something a little off the beaten path. Since it’s only open for dinner and not as popular as San Angel Inn, La Hacienda is more of an under-the-radar option in EPCOT. Give it a try if you’re looking to mix it up.

Pass on this spot and dine elsewhere if…

  • You’re more interested in checking out the festival options in EPCOT. There are nearly year-round festivals in the park nowadays, which means plenty of food booths to check out!
  • You have a long to-do list in EPCOT. If you’re hoping to do all the rides and explore all the World Showcase pavilions, you might not have enough time to also do a sit-down restaurant.
