You’d Have NO Idea This New Disney World Snack Is Plant-Based
If you’re looking for late-night dining in Disney World, there are a few spots that you should definitely know about.
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn has several spots that are open into the night, and you can also find lots of restaurants, bars, and lounges at Disney Springs. But there’s one spot that you’re probably not thinking of, but you definitely should consider as a great place to grab a quick bite and a drink! Come with us to the River Roost at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside.
The River Roost lounge at Port Orleans – Riverside is open from 5PM to 12AM most nights, with food served until 10PM. On the weekends, you can sometimes catch this lounge open earlier in the day as well.
Eats on the menu here include a charcuterie board, some chicken wings, Mardi Gras Fritters, and other small plates. Disney recently announced a couple of new menu items here, so of course we had to head in and check them out!
Come see if you should get these items on your next trip to the Disney World parks.
There’s a new drink on the cocktail menu — the French 75 — and a new appetizer on the food menu — Spinach and Artichoke Dip. Starting out with the drink, the French 75 is made with Argyle Sparkling Brut, Hendricks Gin, Lemon Juice, and Pure Cane Sugar, and it costs $15.50.
We thought this was a very tart drink — you can’t detect much sweetness, even with the cane sugar added in. Although you can’t taste the sugar much, you can definitely find the gin! The drink is very strong, and our reporter said that just a couple of sips were enough to bring on the warm fuzzies.
Still, we thought the flavors were very well-balanced. There was just the right amount of lemon to offset the gin flavor. If you like tart drinks and gin, this is a great choice! However, if you’re more interested in sweet drinks, this might be one you’ll want to skip.
We also tried the new appetizer, which is Spinach and Artichoke Dip, served with Cornbread Crostinis for $14. This is a plant-based option, but we found it to be super creamy despite being made without dairy products.
The dip has a good balance of spinach, artichokes, and “cheese” flavor. Like we said, it was super creamy, and we could hardly tell it was any different from the non-plant-based dips we’ve tried.
The cornbread crostinis are made from sweet cornbread, and there was even a little Mickey-shaped one! If you know us, you know that we firmly believe all food tastes better when it’s shaped like Mickey. This cornbread crostini was no exception to that rule.
The sweetness from the cornbread is a good complement to the salty dip. We thought this was a very fun way to put a spin on the normal crostinis.
If you like spinach and artichoke dip, we think you should absolutely try this appetizer! The addition of the cornbread makes it a little bit unique, and we really enjoyed every bite. Some kiddos might be put off by all the veggies in the dip, so this might be one for more adventurous kids and adults.
You can head into River Roost now to try out these new items! If you’re not staying at Port Orleans – Riverside or the nearby Port Orleans – French Quarter, it might be a little bit out of your way to get to River Roost. Remember that there is a boat service between the Port Orleans resorts and Disney Springs, and you can use a Disney bus to get to this spot from any of the parks.
