UPDATES on the TRON Coaster, ‘Moana’ Attraction, and More Projects at Disney World

Chilly weather has finally come to Disney World — but whether or not it will stick around is anyone’s guess.

Crowds in Disney World

One thing that we can be sure will stick around for a WHILE is construction in Disney World. BIG changes are coming, and if you’ve found it a little hard to keep track of it all — we’ve got you covered. We’re always on the hunt for the latest construction updates from around the parks and resorts — so let’s take a look at everything you might have missed this week!

Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney World Railroad

We’re seeing some progress on the Walt Disney World Railroad tracks over near TRON: Lightcycle Run! Recently, more work has been done on the tracks in various locations throughout Magic Kingdom — so hopefully we’re one step closer to finally being able to climb aboard this train once again.

More tracks!

We’ll keep an eye out for the latest updates on the Railroad and let you know if we learn of any news!

TRON: Lightcycle Run

It looks like concrete is the name of the game over at TRON in Tomorrowland. The cement walls are up while the surrounding structures appear to be filled with sand for now.

We also spotted some ride vehicle testing on our last pass through the PeopleMover!

Disney announced that TRON: Lightcycle Run will be opening in spring 2023, but we’ll keep you updated with the latest news until then!

EPCOT

Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana

Over at EPCOT’s scaffol– we mean Moana-inspired attraction, we’re starting to see more details come to life on the rock structures. Shading has been added for some dimension, and what looks like green moss is covering some of the rocks as well.

The logo is there!

And, more of those large, branched towers have been installed as well.

Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana is slated to open sometime in late 2023.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Dino Diner

A snack stand has moved in over where Dino Diner used to be in Animal Kingdom. You can grab various bottled beverages and frozen treats over here.

Dino Diner is no more

Disney removed Dino Diner without any announcements or word on what might come next for the space, so we’ll keep an eye out for the latest and let you know if anything changes with the current snack stand!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Keystone Clothiers

Construction walls are up out in front of part of the facade of Keystone Clothiers in Hollywood Studios. The store appeared to sustain some minor damage just after Hurricane Ian, so it looks like Disney is repairing that.

No word on how long these walls will be up, but we’ll let you know when Disney tears them down.

Woody’s Roundup Rodeo BBQ

Not much has changed over at Woody’s Roundup Rodeo BBQ — at least from what we can see on the outside of this green scrim.

The table-service restaurant is supposed to be open sometime this year, but will Disney be able to pull that off? We’ll let you know!

It’s dirt as far as the eye can see at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

The former Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show building was demolished and the area was cleared to make way for a new hotel building featuring DVC villas, restaurants, and more.
