Shanghai Disney Resort Reducing Offerings in Response to COVID-19

The past two years have been challenging for Disney Parks around the world. In 2020, every Disney Park closed in response to the global pandemic.

Just this year, Shanghai Disneyland Resort closed again in response to COVID-19 measures in China, and then later reopened. Now, the park is responding to those measures again — although it will remain open, the park will temporarily reduce operations.

As of October 29th, Shanghai Disneyland Resort will be operating with a limited capacity. This means that “select attractions, live entertainment, restaurants, and shops will not be available or will operate at reduced capacity.” However, the park, along with Disneytown, and Wishing Star Park, will remain open.

Disney will be providing guests with valid tickets/reservations with refunds or exchanges and they should get in contact with whoever they initially bought tickets with. All guests who visit Shanghai Disney Resort will still need to present a green Shanghai Health QR code and a negative Nucleic Acid Test taken within 72 hours before entering any part of the resort.

Guests will also still have to undergo temperature screenings, wear masks both indoors and outdoors, and follow social distancing requirements. Note that the reduced operations is temporary, so keep an eye on the Shanghai Disney Resort website for updates (we’ll keep an eye on it, too).

It’s unclear exactly how this will affect Shanghai Disney Resort’s Halloween celebrations, but if you do visit the park, keep in mind that some offerings may not be available. If you have any concerns, please call the resort directly.
