Small Price Increases That Make a BIG Difference to Your Disney World Budget
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, Disney World ain’t cheap.
You have to buy your park tickets, book a hotel if the trip calls for it, not to mention plan for eating all those delicious Disney snacks and treats while you’re there. It adds up quickly — and when price increases hit the parks, it can make you rethink your Disney World budget. These price increases may seem small, but they’ve made a BIG difference to our Disney World budgets!
When it comes to your Disney World trip, you might have some idea of what you can or want to spend while you’re there. We see price increases hit the parks pretty regularly, and while a bump in cost here or there might not seem like the end of the world, it can add up quickly.
Even these small price increases have made us rethink our Disney World budgets!
Snacks
We know a thing or two about Disney World snacks, and they can often fall victim to price increases. It might not seem like a huge deal to pay $0.25 more for that popcorn refill, but if your family relies on this cheap savory snack to keep the kiddos full until the next meal, it can really add up!
One of the most egregious price hikes we saw in recent history came to our beloved Spring Roll Cart in Magic Kingdom. You used to be able to snag two delicious spring rolls for $7.50. You can still snag two delicious spring rolls from this cart, but it’ll cost you a whopping $2 more!
While these may seem like small changes, if these are items you’re used to buying in the marks it can make all the difference. You can always stay tuned to DFB to see the latest snack price increases!
Character Dining
Character dining is BACK in Disney World after a long hiatus, and we’re still seeing some experiences return to certain restaurants. We’ll soon get to interact with pals at ‘Ohana at the Polynesian Village Resort again, and just recently Winnie the Pooh and Friends returned to lunch and dinner at The Crystal Palace, too. We were there on the first day of their return, except we noticed something different…
…because of the return of these characters, the price of our meal had gone up! Prior to characters returning, the meal was $39 for adults and $23 for children. Now, it’s $59 for adult and $39 for children. And while we’re happy to pay to get to see our old friends again, this is something you should keep in mind when planning your trip. Just because a restaurant isn’t currently offering a character meal doesn’t mean that it won’t by the time your trip rolls around!

Clothing & Souvenirs
There’s nothing quite like coming home from your Disney trip with a suitcase stuffed with souvenirs. But, if you’ve noticed that your splurges are costing you just a bit more than usual lately, you’re not alone. Disney merchandise and clothing specifically have seen recent price increases. Spirit jerseys saw a pretty big hike last year, with the price going from $69.99 to $74.99.
The best thing you can do is budget ahead of time and try to stick to it while avoiding allllllll the other items you want to buy!
Tickets
The cost of Disney World tickets has been going up since it first opened in 1971 — although ticket types have gone through quite a few changes. Ticket prices have gone up in recent years, and we know that a trip to Disney World is going to cost thousands more in 2023 than it did in 2022.
Sure, when you’re paying $100+ for a ticket to Disney World a small price increase might not seem like a big deal, but for families or those purchasing multiple tickets, every little bit counts!
How Disney World Tickets Have CHANGED Over the Years
Any Price Increase
When you’re planning a trip for multiple people or a family, any small price increase is going to be multiplied. That $5 ticket increase? For a family of four, that’s actually a $20 increase. The same is true for meals, snacks, and souvenirs — so really, if you’re not flying solo to Disney World, there is no such thing as a “small” price increase!
If you’re heading to Disney World soon, keep in mind that prices can fluctuate and they might be different than they were on your last trip. We do our best to keep up with all the little updates, so you can always check with DFB before you build your budget!
