The Best and Worst Things We Ate in Disney World in July
As much as we love classic Disney World eats (like pineapple DOLE Whip!), we also love trying new things!

July was a BUSY month in Disney World, from the return of Flavors of Florida and the 2022 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival to new July flavors and some interesting menu additions. There were some BIG hits and some eats that missed the mark, so let’s go over the BEST and the WORST of July!
The Five Best
Garage Burgers — D-Luxe Burger
As part of the Flavors of Florida event in Disney Springs, D-Luxe Burger released two burgers and one milkshake in Disney Springs and all three were SO good! The Orange Garage Burger was $12.49 for a burger served with pepper jack cheese, pork belly, lettuce, and served with an orange and onion marmalade. It was very unique and the sweet marmalade with the spicy cheese was absolute perfection.

The Lime Garage Burger is also $12.49 for a deluxe patty topped with pepper jack cheese, pork belly, and a fried green tomato, served with avocado, lime, and jalapeño spread. It was HUGE and we loved the flavors of lime, avocado, and jalapeño.

Even the Orange Bird Milkshake (for $7.50) was refreshing and creamy and made for orange creamsicle fans. These limited-time menu offerings will last until August 14th, so don’t wait too long this month to give them a try!

Best of the Fest – 2022 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival
The 2022 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival debuted on July 14th and you know what that means — TONS of new and returning festival eats! Every EPCOT festival we compile a list of the BEST of the fest and this year a few new contenders made the list. We’ll start with the Impossible Meatballs from Earth Eats, which are served with herbed polenta, rustic puttanesca sauce, and basil pesto for $5.75. We loved the big flavors in this dish and even our reporter who eats meat was impressed with this dish!

The Mini Pina Colada Funnel Cake from the Funnel Cake Stand was both tasty and refreshing (perfect for a hot day), and it came with piña colada ice cream, whipped cream, toasted coconut, and maraschino cherry, and coconut-rum sauce for $9.50. We wish it could be around all year!

And the Adobo Yuca Fries from The Fry Basket were our favorite thing to try at this new booth! Essentially, they were serving Texas toast garlic bread flavor — except, you know, as fries. They came topped with garlic-cilantro aïoli that added a delicious tangy flavor. Grab this dish for $5.50!

Sea Salt and Caramel Ribbons Ice Cream with Cloud of Cocoa Perfume — Salt & Straw
Salt & Straw offers new flavors every month in Disney Springs and July was no exception — in fact, they served perfume for your ice cream! We tried the Sea Salt and Caramel Ribbons with Cloud of Cocoa Perfume for $6.95 and the combo of flavors was a totally new experience for us.

You could choose from one of three perfume scents but we were really happy with how the caramel ice cream mixed with the chocolate scent (in fact, a Cast Member recommended that we smell the ice cream while eating). Getting a perfume topping was complimentary in July, but who knows — maybe there will be more scents in the future!

Coppa Amarena — Gelateria Toscana
The frozen treat Coppa Amarena from Gelateria Toscana in EPCOT was a BIG hit for us! It was made with vanilla gelato, Amarena cherries, Amaretto cookies, whipped cream, and shaved chocolate for $11.75. This dessert was GIANT (so it’s easily shareable) and the vanilla and cherry flavors mixed beautifully. Note that the cherries tasted real (not artificial) and we got a cherry flavor in every bite.

Even the cookies were good — they were fluffy and crunchy — and ultimately we loved the variety of textures and flavors. If this sounds good to you, we recommend giving it a try!

Alien Freeze — Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies
The Alien Freeze from Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies in Magic Kingdom was both adorable AND tasty, made with blue raspberry slush, DOLE Whip lime, and sugar eyes. As the Toy Story aliens would say, “ooooOOOOooo.”

The lime DOLE Whip was tart but not sour and the blue raspberry slush balanced out the lime with a sweet flavor that reminded us of blue cotton candy. The only thing we didn’t like was the sugar eyes, but they were easy to remove without eating them.

The Five Worst
Blood Orange Éclair — Amorette’s Patisserie
We’re moving on to the five worst things we tried in July but keep in mind that even if we didn’t like it, it doesn’t mean you wouldn’t like it! We’re starting with the Blood Orange Éclair from Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs, which pretty much just left us confused. This éclair was filled with triple blood orange mousse and topped with tangy citrus jam and candied blood orange for $7.

We were disappointed to find that the filling didn’t have much citrus flavor, the jam wasn’t tangy, and the pastry got really soggy. It could have just been our batch that day but keep in mind that you might want to save your $7 for something else. It’s only around until August 14th for the Flavors of Florida event.

Orange Lemonade with Sweet Cream Foam — Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew
The Orange Lemonade with Sweet Cream Foam from Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew was another Flavors of Florida menu addition, and it was…strange. The drink itself was refreshing, with a strong orange flavor and a nice hint of lemon. But the sweet cream foam?

The foam on top of the drink just didn’t work for us. It sat on top of the drink and had to be mixed in, but it didn’t blend very well, and it didn’t really work with the lemon and orange flavors either. If you like the idea of this drink, we recommend not mixing in the cream! You can order it for $6.50.

Thailicious Donut — Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew
The Thailicious Donut was a new menu addition at Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew, and it was something all right. This glazed donut was topped with black sesame icing topped with charred pineapple, spicy chili lime garlic peanut butter topping, sweet chili sauce, micro cilantro, and sesame seeds, and we weren’t a fan. All of the combined flavors (which are delicious on their own!) just didn’t work for us on top of a donut.

We did like the black sesame icing but the other toppings didn’t seem to work on a donut. If it was just the black sesame icing and sesame seeds we think it would be a better donut, but the addition of the chili lime garlic topping was too heavy. You can try it for $6.50!

Dandan Noodles — China Booth
We’re heading back to the 2022 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival to talk about the Dandan Noodles from the China Booth, which were a new dish this year. We were hopeful but it didn’t really deliver for us. We thought the meat had a strange grainy texture and the noodles were very spicy (especially for a hot Florida day).

It might be better on a cooler day, and you can try it for $8.25. If you’re still in the mood for a dish from the China Booth, we recommend trying the Mongolian Beef Bao Bun as an alternative!

Goat Cheese Marionberry Habanero — Salt & Straw
And finally, while one Salt & Straw flavor made our list of best July foods, another made it to the list of worst. The Goat Cheese Marionberry Habanero from Salt & Straw was already an interesting concept but you REALLY have to like goat cheese to love it.

The goat cheese was definitely the dominant flavor and we didn’t think it mixed well with the berry flavor. In another odd twist, we got a spicy kick at the back of our throat that wasn’t totally pleasant. You can get a single scoop for $6.95 or a double scoop for $9.50!
