The Average Cost to Fly to Disney World in July 2022
Your Disney World trip might be expensive enough as it is, but add on flight costs and you’re talking about some BIG expenses.
We’ve already covered why some flights might be cancelled this summer on a particular airline, how a deal could prevent some future cancellations from happening on another airline, and a look at some flight costs and why they’re so expensive. But if you’re flying to Disney World this July and wondering just how much that flight will cost you, we’ve crunched the numbers and have that answer right here!
Our Method
If you’ve read one of our average flight cost posts before then you’re likely familiar with our method. To all the newcomers, welcome! Let’s go through the basics of what we do here.
First, we use a specific method to calculate our average flight costs. Specifically, we look at the average cost to fly to Orlando International Airport (MCO) from a number of airports within the United States on a set number of airlines. We can’t analyze all airlines and all airports for this post or we’d be here for quite a while. Just keep in mind that the airport you fly from or the airline you like to use might NOT be on here.
For our July dates, we looked for a trip departing on Thursday, July 22nd, and returning on Monday, July 25th. Based on flights from JFK to MCO, these dates featured some prices that were on the higher side as well as some on the cheaper side, and they avoided the July 4th holiday weekend.
Note that the price of your flight can vary a lot depending on when you choose to travel. Busy periods, holidays, and other things can all factor into flight cost.
We used Google Flights to get our flight prices, except for Southwest Airlines flights, for which we used the Southwest Airlines website. Note that this is just a view into what flight costs can be. Costs can change daily or even within a matter of hours!
We only looked at basic ticket prices. Of course, flying and picking an airline to fly with can involve so much more than just the ticket cost. Things like being able to pick your seat, the number of included checked/carryon bags, and other factors can impact your decision. The right ticket or airline for you will depend on what you want!
A few other notes:
- We looked at the combination of the least expensive departing flight and least expensive returning flight. We then did the same thing for the most expensive departing and most expensive returning flights.
- Our costs only feature the base cost. Tickets may be more expensive and feature taxes, fees, or other costs when you actually go to book.
- The times of these flights, layover situation, and other details might not work for you.
- For Southwest Airlines, we stuck to “Wanna Get Away” tickets when possible.
- The actual cost of the flight might vary once you go to book it on the flight’s website or a separate travel website.
- We only looked for flights that arrive on the same day as their departure (as much as possible).
- All prices are for 1 person.
Alright, now let’s look at the prices!

Overall, the average price to fly to Disney World in July of 2022 (using our specific method) ranged from about $510.50 on the cheaper side, up to about $1,156.41 in terms of the more expensive options.
That’s significantly more expensive than the costs we saw for May, but very close (within just a few dollars) of the flight costs for June.
Note that sometimes a notification did pop up on Google to say that the flight costs were “high” for some of the trips at this time, so things could be lower in the future.
Also, as the situation with fuel prices develops, we could see further changes to flight costs.
Keep in mind that these are just averages and the actual cost of your flight could be very different. But hopefully these averages help you get a sense for what your flight may cost.
What Now?
You’re looking ahead and seeing your flight is going to cost more than you thought — what now? Well there are a number of things you can do. You could keep watching the flight costs (either through a service like Google or applications like Hopper), to see what the costs are like and how things may change.
Google also shows a price graph that’ll tell you average prices for flights on other dates. You could use this to potentially shift the dates of your trip to dates that are expected to be priced lower.
You could consider utilizing credit card travel points (if you have any) to cover some of those flight costs, or adjust your budget or plans to make room for the higher flight costs. That might mean staying at a value resort instead of a deluxe or moderate resort, but if it helps you get to Disney World and afford the flights, then it might be worth the change!
The key here is just to be aware of what the costs will be so you can shift and adjust your plans as needed.
And remember that you don’t have to plan your Disney World trip all by yourself. Our friends at Small World Vacations can help you plan the Disney World vacation you’ve always dreamed of. They have years of experience booking Disney World trips, and their services are totally FREE!
