REVIEW: If You’re Going to CHEAT on Mickey Waffles in Disney World…Do It With Tonga Toast

Starting your day off in Disney World with a good breakfast is so underrated.

Mornings in Magic Kingdom are magical!

Nothing beats strolling through the parks with a full stomach after a delicious meal. NOTHING. (Well, at least according to us.) And why not go for a deliciously indulgent breakfast? It’s a vacation, after all! That’s why we like trying the massive Tonga Toast from Capt. Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. We’ve tried it before, but we felt like it was time to check on this tasty meal again. So keep reading to see if this breakfast option is right for you!

The Tonga Toast from Capt. Cook’s is a pretty popular breakfast, and it’s not hard to see why. The Tonga Toast, which costs $10.49, is a banana-stuffed sourdough bread that’s deep-fried and dusted with cinnamon sugar. Just look at how HUGE this breakfast is!

Look how massive this thing is!

The outside crust is hard and slightly crunchy both from frying it and from that cinnamon-sugar coating. But the inside is gooey and fluffy, and the banana gives it perfect moistness (sorry, we had to use that word) to compensate for the hard exterior. The banana does give it a slightly sour taste, but overall we thought the Tonga Toast was as delicious as we remembered!

This meal also comes with your choice of bacon or sausage. We chose bacon! (Our philosophy is when in doubt…always choose bacon.) Big surprise…we loved the bacon, which provided even more crunch to our breakfast! And the savory side helped to balance out the very sweet toast.

We told you it’s massive!

With a critical eye, we can see a downside to this dish. The hard outside of the toast is a little tough to eat — especially if you have sensitive teeth. We also think that those who are looking for a more traditional breakfast (eggs, bacon, plain pancakes, etc.) might not enjoy this dish. Other than that, we really don’t see anything else that’s bad about the dish. It’s sugar, cinnamon, fried bread, and bananas…what could be better?!

LOOK AT THIS!

We think this dish is a great value for the price as well. If you’re just looking for a quick snack, the large size also makes it very shareable. As always, check back here for the latest Disney news!

Here’s what we thought about the Breakfast Bowl at Woody’s Lunchbox.
