Disney Cruise Line is Relaxing MORE COVID-19 Guidelines — See ALL New Updates Here!

To ensure we are equipping our readers with all the information they need, we will continue to report on all travel, safety, and COVID-related news that could impact a Disney Parks visit.

The Disney World parks and resorts are going through some big changes! The health and safety guidelines were recently updated, new attractions are in the works, and we heard a BIG update is coming to the character meet and greet process.

Disney Cruise

Now, it seems like another Disney experience is undergoing some updates; the Disney Cruise Line is gearing up for a busy spring and summer this year! Between the grand unveiling of the new Disney Wish cruise ship and the relaxed health and safety guidelines, we’re seeing a lot of changes. Let’s talk about some of the NEW updates Disney added to the Disney Cruise Line website.

Previously, Disney’s health and safety guidelines stated that face masks were optional for guests in most indoor locations throughout the Disney Cruise Line ships, with one of the main exceptions being the Walt Disney Theatre. According to the old language on the Disney Cruise Line website, “guests ages 2 and up, including those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, will still be required to wear face coverings in the Walt Disney Theatre.”

Starting now, the face mask requirement has changed. The Disney Cruise Line website has updated language that no longer requires guests to wear a face mask in the theater. Keep in mind that “face coverings are required on motorcoach transportation and in the Disney Cruise Line Terminal and may be required in ports of call based on local government requirements.”

The Disney Cruise Line dining process was also recently updated. In the past, all foods and beverages that were available at self-service stations were served by Crew Members, but now, that language was removed from the website.

Instead, the Disney Cruise Line website explains that “Quick service food and beverage locations, including buffets, still offer all-you-care-to-eat bites and treats,” indicating that self-service buffets have returned.

Disney also states that “service attendants [are] available to help satisfy your cravings at select times.”

While we’re still waiting for an update on a few cruise activities, like the Sail Away Celebration and the Pirate’s Night deck party, we did notice that Disney has a new section on its website with updated language on the fireworks.

In the past, guests were assigned to a fireworks show date prior to their cruise. Now, that statement has been taken off the Disney Cruise Line website. Starting now, Disney is no longer assigning guests to a specific fireworks performance.

As Disney continues to make changes to its health and safety guidelines, we’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date with all the latest information! If you’re planning to take a cruise in the near future, we recommend that you take a look at the online checklist that can be found on the Disney Cruise website; it outlines what you need to do before your trip and lists the requirements for embarkation day.

Note that these changes do not apply to sailings from Disney’s Canadian and European ports, and Disney’s health and safety policies are subject to change. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for updates!
