Don’t Go to Disney World Next Week Without Reading This Update
Whether you’re heading into Disney World soon or just like to keep up with the latest updates, we’ve got all the news for changes happening inside the parks and hotels.
Disney World sometimes will close a ride, restaurant, or attraction for technical reasons, weather, or scheduled maintenance. Let’s take a look at what’s scheduled to be closed in Disney World this coming week so that you’re aware of what’s not available during your trip.
We’ll start out by looking at the Disney World parks.
Magic Kingdom Closures
Mickey’s PhilharMagic has been closed for the last month because imagineers were adding a new scene inspired by Coco to the attraction.
But we’ve got great news here — this attraction is now OPEN in Fantasyland!
You can head in to check out the new Coco scene now, which includes some amazing music from the film.
Or, if you can’t get into the parks right now, check out our post about this new addition.

The Walt Disney World Railroad is not quite so lucky, unfortunately. This attraction has been closed for a LONG time, and it looks like it won’t be opening anytime soon.
Over in Tomorrowland, construction on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster interrupted the railroad’s tracks, which means the beloved train can’t run right now.
We’re not expecting this ride to reopen until TRON construction is finished, which will likely happen sometime next year.
Animal Kingdom Closures
A popular water ride is still closed in Animal Kingdom.
Kali River Rapids has been closed for scheduled maintenance, and it’s not expected to re-open until January 1st, 2022.
Until then, check out the Expedition Everest roller coaster nearby, or head to Na’vi River Journey in Pandora for another boat ride option (albeit a much calmer one).
Disney World Hotel Closures
Over at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, the Big Pine Key building has started its transformation into Disney Vacation Club villas.
The rooms will become 200 resort studios, which are scheduled to open in the summer of 2022.
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort still has not opened. This hotel was scheduled to open in December of this year, but Disney announced that its reopening will be delayed indefinitely due to more construction inside.
Disney’s Port-Orleans Riverside Resort reopened last month, but the Boatwright’s Dining Hall did not open with it.
A Cast Member said the dining hall will likely reopen in December, so stay tuned for more updates on that!
That wraps up our look at everything that’ll be closed in Disney World next week. Keep following DFB for more updates as you plan your upcoming trip.
