The BEST (and WORST) Things We Ate in Disney World in August
We’re heading into the final weeks of summer (even though Halloween is already in full force at Disney World!), and while we must say goodbye to the month of August, we’ll use our fond farewell as an opportunity to look back on all of our favorite (and…not so favorite) things we ate in the parks and resorts!

That’s right, we’re back with another monthly roundup of the best and worst things we had in Disney World for the month of August. This month brought us fall-themed treats and a TON of new Food and Wine booths, so there was no shortage of food and drink items to try!
The Best
Baked Lobster Dip from Lobster Landing
Even though the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival started in July, we tried enough food items and the newly opened booths that we had to make an entirely separate Best of the Fest list! Right at the top of this list is the Baked Lobster Dip from Lobster Landing.

This booth is basically a lobster lover’s paradise with great options across the board, but the dish that truly wowed us was this dip.
Who doesn’t love a good dip?
This dip was exactly what it needed to be — warm and creamy like a lobster queso! It also came with a TON of shredded lobster meat, so for $5.50 we felt like we were getting a real bargain. In theory, this dish is large enough to share with a friend, but we’re keeping ours to ourselves, thank you!

Truffle Mac & Cheese from Mac and Eats
Mac and cheese is a highlight at any EPCOT food festival, so you can only imagine our delight when we learned there would be an entire booth dedicated to this creamy, cheesy dish! Mac and Eats serves up four delicious varieties of mac & cheese, but the one that we loved the most (and is also included in our Best of the Fest 2.0 list) is the Truffle Mac & Cheese.
Mmmmm…truffles…
The truffle added a unique flavor rather than just your (already delicious) mac and cheese, and any mac and cheese dish that’s topped with Herbed Panko is a winner in our book. Try this or any of the mac and cheese dishes at Mac and Eats for $5.75.

Caramel Apple Tart from ABC Commissary
It may still be summer, but we tried a BUNCH of fall and Halloween-themed snacks this month. Among the ones we loved was the Caramel Apple Tart from ABC Commissary in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s a spiced caramel cheesecake mousse apple served on top of a cinnamon-apple tart.

This dessert reminded us of an apple pie — total Thanksgiving dessert vibes in the middle of August (and we aren’t complaining!).

The Caramel Apple Tart is the complete package — a great balance of tart and sweet, plus a great balance of texture! Grab one at ABC Commissary this fall for $5.49.

Belle Cheesecake from Le Petit Cafe
August also brought us World Princess Week, and Disney World really went for it with their princess-themed treats! Over at Le Petit Cafe in Disney’s Riviera Resort, we tried the Belle Cheesecake, which is Lemon Cheesecake with Lemon Curd in a Vanilla Tart Shell.
So pretty!
Though the cheesecake itself tasted more like a plain cheesecake, the lemon curd was STRONG! This was a very lemon-y dessert that you may not be into if you don’t enjoy that particular flavor. If you are a fan of all things lemon, however, this may be one of the best desserts you’ve had in Disney World in some time!
A Closer Look
The Belle Cheesecake was $6.99. We’re bummed that this was a limited-time treat and we hope Disney World brings back something similar soon!

Apple Ginger Dale from Golden Oak Outpost
August means the start of Halloween in Disney World (yep, we’re celebrating the spooky season when it’s still 90 degrees outside!), and this year brought us the first-ever Disney After Hours Boo Bash! This after hours ticketed event had several party-exclusive treats, including the Apple Ginger Dale from Golden Oak Outpost!

This beverage is a mixture of Frozen Apple Cider mixed with Ginger Ale, topped with Whipped Cream and chopped TWIX Cookie Bars. While most of the treats at Boo Bash were decent enough, the Apple Ginger Dale stood out as the perfect refreshing drink to have in the middle of a muggy Florida evening. At $5.99, we would highly suggest you pick one up as you make your way through Boo Bash!

The Worst
Sweet Poison from Sunshine Day Bar
Unfortunately, there are times we come across a snack or a drink that is anything BUT a runaway hit. This past month, there were four items that stood out for all of the wrong reasons — interestingly enough, all four items on our “worst” list are part of the fall and Halloween lineup. First up is the Sweet Poison cocktail from Sunshine Day Bar.

This cocktail is a mixture of coconut rum, blue Curaçao beverage syrup, rum, and pineapple juice. We had two issues with this drink: first, does this drink scream ‘Halloween’ to you? Because it certainly didn’t to us! Second, we could barely taste the alcohol! At $14, you at least want to know that you’re paying for a mixed drink and not just juice!

Chocolate Mousse from ABC Commissary
You win some you lose some is the theme of ABC Commissary this fall! While we loved their Caramel Apple Tart, we could not bring ourselves to feel as warm and fondly for their Chocolate Mousse. This ghoulish snack is made with Raspberry-dark chocolate mousse, chocolate-almond cake, a layer of hazelnut crunch, and whipped chocolate-hazelnut cheesecake.

If you’re thinking to yourself, “Wow, that’s a lot of different flavors,” you would be right. A Chocolate Mousse should be an easy runaway hit, but unfortunately, this dessert had way too many different flavors going on and ultimately we were too overwhelmed to truly enjoy it. If you’re curious and want to try it for yourself this Halloween, you can pick one up for $5.49.

Witch’s Hat Mousse from Rosie’s All-American Cafe
Disney just couldn’t get it together with their mousse this season! While the previous mousse had way too much flavor going on, this next one had practically no flavor at all! The Witch’s Hat Mousse from Rosie’s All-American Cafe in Disney’s Hollywood Studios may look pretty, but the positives seemed to have stopped there.
So Cute! But the Flavors Were Seriously Lacking
This dessert is whipped blackberry panna cotta sitting on green apple mousse with salted caramel crispy pearls (ours were missing!) and a chocolate shortbread cookie. At $5.49, we found this treat to be totally lacking in flavor!

Halloween Mickey Cinnamon Roll from Main Street Bakery
Our final snack on our “worst” list for the month of August is an oldie and SHOULD be a goodie — but we were totally let down by the Halloween Mickey Cinnamon Roll from Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom this year.
All we did was love you, Mickey cinnamon roll
Maybe we just got a bad batch, but this cinnamon roll was thin and hard and was almost on the verge of stale. If you want to try one and see if you can get yourself a fresh batch you’ll find it at Main Street Bakery for $6.49.
