Prepare for Lots of RAIN in Disney World Next Week 🌧

Ready for a fun week in Disney World?

Halloween in Magic Kingdom

It might feel like fall is starting in Disney World with the Halloween decorations and the start of Disney After Hours BOO Bash, but the weather still feels like summer! So, let’s take a look at the forecast for next week in Disney World!

Weather Forecast

According to The Weather Channel, we’re looking at a pretty typical Florida summer week; that is to say, HOT, humid, and stormy!

Tree of Life

So, the forecast will be pretty similar to last week’s weather. Fear not, though! We’ve got tips to help you with your Disney trip next week!

Tropical Storm/Depression Fred

The first thing we want to talk about quickly is (current) Tropical Depression Fred. We’ve been keeping a close eye on the development of this storm lately. As of updates issued on August 13th from CNN at around 12:30PM ET, Fred could strengthen back into a tropical storm before impacting Florida.

Right now, Tropical Storm watches and warnings have been issued for select areas of southwest Florida. The storm is expected to be near the Florida Keys on Saturday. It is then expected that Fred will move into the Gulf of Mexico and toward Florida’s Big Bend. Some models show it moving to the Florida Peninsula while others show it toward the Alabama-Florida border.

None of the models show it gaining hurricane strength before making landfall, but that’s something to look for. Heavy rainfall is expected for much of Florida, and that rain could lead to flooding across Central Florida.

As Click Orlando notes, Fred isn’t expected to have a direct impact on Central Florida, but some counties could see stronger wind gusts, and rain chances are expected to increase through Friday afternoon and the weekend. Again, the weather is subject to change so be sure to keep an eye out for more updates.

August 16th

Monday, August 16th will start the week with temperatures in the high 80s, so get ready for more of that Orlando HEAT. It doesn’t help that the humidity is up above 70% (and sometimes higher!) for the whole week.

Get ready for an 88 degree high and a 76 degree low. But keep in mind that that high humidity can make the temperature feel around ten degrees higher. So get ready to sweat! We’ve seen real-feel above 100 degrees on similarly forecasted days!

August 17th

The next day, August 17th, gets a touch hotter up to a high of 90 degrees and a low of 76 degrees. There is a little bit lower chance of rain on Tuesday!

Most summer afternoons in Florida have a chance of rain and this week is no different. In general, it’s a good idea to bring a rain layer in your park bag to make sure you don’t get unexpectedly drenched.

August 18th

On Wednesday, August 18th, we’re going to see a drop back down just a little bit to 89 degrees during the day and the mid-70s at night.

Take a look at that UV Index. You’ll spot 10 out of 10 levels for most days in the summer and that can be DANGEROUS. Grab that SPF and lather often! Still, this is the first week where we’re not seeing an Extreme UV Index; a sign the summer is waning!

August 19th

For Thursday, August 19th expect a similar day with a high temperature of 89 degrees and a low temperature of 76. And, you guessed it, more rain is coming.

Just because there are showers predicted every day doesn’t mean you’ll be dealing with rain for your whole trip. Sometimes, the rain can pass right over Disney World without a drop coming down. Still, it’s best to be prepared!

August 20th

This week’s temperatures are pretty consistent as you can tell. Friday we’re seeing a day dip a little down to an 88 degree high and a 76 degree low on August 20th.

One bonus about summer is that it means longer days! AND it still gets dark with plenty of time to see the fireworks! In August, the sun tends to rise around 7AM and set around 8PM.

August 21st

And on to Saturday, we’re seeing another day with (SHOCKER) warm temperatures and scattered afternoon showers and storms. Well, at least summer is consistent!

©The Weather Channel

August 21st has a high of 88 degrees and a low of 75 degrees.

August 22nd

Finally, we wrap up the week on August 22nd with another warm day and a pretty standard rain chance.

Remember, Florida weather is VERY changeable. SO keep checking back on that forecast in the days leading up to your trip! You don’t want to be caught unawares.

Overview of the Week

Here is a full overview of the week according to The Weather Channel. Temperatures are projected to hang out in about the same place for the whole week. We’re looking at a range of high 80s to low 90s highs and mid 70s lows.

Tips for Weathering the Weather!

Now for some tips to help you weather next week’s weather!

Keep safe in the sun!

The heat, humidity, and extreme UV levels of Florida can come together to create a dangerous set of conditions. If the heat starts to feel like it’s too much, take an air-conditioned break and grab some water. AND, grab a solid SPF to lather up. It’s super important that you and your family stay safe in the sun!

Train Station

You might not be used to walking miles and miles in such adverse weather conditions and you DON’T want to get sick.

Stay dry in the rain!

Now, you MIGHT get lucky and miss the rain, but if you DON’T, we don’t want you to get SOAKED. So, here’s how to prep!

Splash Mountain

Pack a rain jacket or poncho, wear shoes that will still be comfy when they’re soaked, and remember to ride outdoor must-dos in the morning! Outdoor rides like Splash Mountain or Slink Dog Dash might close in the afternoon for lightning!
