Are Disney World’s New Annual Passes More Expensive Than The Old Ones?

Disney World Annual Passes have been M.I.A. for a while now, but they are officially returning this September!

Annual Pass

Even though Annual Passes are returning, they will look pretty different from before with brand new tiers and names (similar to the new Magic Key system at Disneyland). We’ve got a look at pricing and what the new pass options offer, so let’s see how it compares to the previous Annual Pass system!

Pricing

The new Annual Pass system offers four pass options: the Disney Incredi-Pass, the Disney Sorcerer Pass, the Disney Pirate Pass, and the Disney Pixie Dust Pass. The previous Annual Pass options included a few more options like Platinum Plus, Platinum, Gold, Silver, Theme Park Select, Weekday Select, and EPCOT After 4.

The Disney Incredi-Pass is the most expensive of the new passes at $1,299. The Disney Sorcerer Pass is the next tier at $899, followed by the Disney Pirate Pass which costs $699, and the Disney Pixie Dust Pass which costs $399. The Disney Sorcerer Pass is available to Florida Residents and DVC Members only, and the Disney Pirate and Pixie Dust Passes are available to Florida Residents only.

You can also add a Water Parks and Sports option to any of the passes for $99 plus tax. You can also add a PhotoPass option to any of the four passes for $99 plus tax.

Overall, the new pass tiers are pretty similar in price compared to the previous system. The Disney Incredi-Pass is about the same price as the Platinum Plus Pass, The Disney Sorcerer Pass is most similar to the Gold Pass, the Disney Pirate Pass is like the Silver Pass, and the Disney Pixie Dust Pass is similar to the Weekday Select Pass.

Perks

One of the best parts of being a Disney World Annual Passholder is the perks! From pop-up shops to special merchandise to free magnets, there are a lot of things to look forward to when becoming an Annual Passholder. But what do the new passes offer in comparison to the current passes?

Passholer-Exclusive Shop

The biggest change is that the new passes allow Passholders to hold MORE Park Pass Reservations than before! Previously, all Annual Passholders were able to select three park reservations at a time, and with the new passes, guests can hold up to five! The Disney Incredi-Pass and the Disney Sorcerer Pass will allow 5 park reservations at one time, the Disney Pirate Pass will allow 4 park reservations, and the Disney Pixie Dust Pass will allow 3 park reservations.

If Passholders stay at a Disney World resort or another select hotel, they will be able to book park reservations for each day of their stay ON TOP of the amount allowed for their Annual Pass. The limits on park reservations are also changing for guests with current certain Annual Passes!

  • Disney Platinum Plus: Up to 5 reservation holds at a time.
  • Disney Platinum Pass: Up to 5 reservation holds at a time.
  • Disney Gold Pass: Up to 5 reservation holds at a time.
  • Disney Silver Pass: Up to 4 reservation holds at a time.

If you have a current Disney World Annual Pass, you can continue to use your pass as normal, but you’ll need to switch to one of the new pass options when it’s time to renew. We will share discount info and more as it’s released.

NOTE: Disney has said that Annual Passes CAN sell out as they continue to manage attendance, so keep that in mind as you make decisions about Annual Passes.
