What’s New at Hollywood Studios: TWO Missing Animatronics and a Returning Ride Pre-Show!
Welcome back, DFB friends! We’re here with another What’s New at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
And, we’ve got plenty of updates to share with you. So, what are you waiting for? Let’s dive right on in!
Hollywood Studios Merchandise Update
Legends of Hollywood
If there’s a Disney song that doesn’t fail to get stuck in our heads, it’s definitely “it’s a small world!” And, you can take home a collection of bags as colorful as the attraction itself with the brand new themed Dooney & Bourke series! The pattern is decorated from characters from around the world, as well as “hello” and “goodbye” in different languages. Fans can take home the satchel for $298…
…tote for $268…
…and a wristlet for $158.
While we spotted the new Dooney collection over in the Legends of Hollywood, we’ll keep an eye out for it around the rest of Disney World and on shopDisney soon!

Hollywood Studios Entertainment Update
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Disney World is slowly, but surely seeing a sense of normalcy return to the parks. As the attractions around the parks have started to remove their distancing markers, allow more guests to board the attractions, and even remove plexiglass, they have looked more and more like they used to prior to the major health and safety changes. And, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is no different as the queue’s distancing markers had been removed…
…while all available space was filled and lines were crossing next to each other for the return of the famous PRE-SHOW!
The pre-show kicked off to its bumpy start as per usual…
And, of course, we can’t leave out that amazing explosion effect where guests are able to actually step inside the world of the Mickey cartoons!
More attraction changes are on the way this week, however, as masks will be optional for guests who are fully vaccinated both indoors and outdoors. Stick around with us to see how the Disney World attractions will look with these updates!

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
Sometimes things just don’t go according to plan on attractions! And, we saw TWO instances of missing characters over in a galaxy far, far away during our visit! At the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, guests are usually greeted by Hondo Ohnaka as he gives everyone the full run-down on their upcoming missions.
And, even though we could hear Hondo’s voice giving us all the details we needed to know before hopping on the Millennium Falcon, his actual animatronic was missing!
Instead, the area where Hondo would usually be standing was covered up by a tarp (thank goodness it wasn’t a plant). We did see Hondo’s face on the screens for a moment to give us additional details about the ride, but they eventually returned back to the regular ole’ blue screens.
But, that wasn’t the only place with missing characters!
Rise of the Resistance
At the Rise of the Resistance, the Lieutenant Bek animatronic was missing too! Usually, you’d find him at the end of the ride in an escape pod, but the pod was empty this time around.
Usually, these animatronics undergo a quick refurbishment just to make sure they are in tip-top shape, so they should be back in their respective attractions sometime soon. We’ll just be sure to keep an eye out for the return of our Star Wars friends!

Echo Lake
Goofy’s a pretty big fan of Echo Lake fishing as we’ve seen him hit up the water hole during his visits to Disney’s Hollywood Studios previously! But, this time he decided to make it a father and son outing by bringing Max along with him (the cutest Father’s Day trip EVER)!
Goofy showed his son how it’s done by smoothly casting a line into the lake to wait for any fish to bite… (Anyone? Bueller?)… .
And, even when he couldn’t find any fish, Goofy looked as happy as ever to still be there spending time with Max!
Goofy tried to teach Max a few tips and tricks of the trade as well…
…buuut, Max seemed a bit more interested in jamming out with some air guitar to a Powerline song instead!
Well, that’s all for this What’s New at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! We’ll catch you next time for more updates. And, if you have any questions about your next Disney trip in the meantime, let us know so we can help you find the answers!
