Why You Could Wait Longer Than Usual For Certain Disney World Rides
Things don’t always go according to plan at Disney World, particularly with rides.
It happens — rides go down, people have to be evacuated, animatronics stop working, and more. And sometimes this affects whether a ride is open or closed, or if it’s loading guests slower than usual.
While we were at Toy Story Land yesterday at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we noticed a longer line than usual for Alien Swirling Saucers. So what’s up? We discovered that one side of the ride was not running (some of those poor little alien guys did NOT want to get grabbed by the claw!). That side of the ride was down earlier today, too.
Even though both sides are open again now, one side not working can drastically affect the wait time. When we passed the attraction earlier with only one side running, the posted wait time was 45 minutes. As of this writing, with both sides open, the posted wait time is 25 minutes.
There are few rides that have two separate ride systems like Alien Swirling Saucers and Dumbo, but most rides that have technical issues have to close until it is fixed. Luckily, you would still be able to ride those types of attractions, but you might have to wait a bit longer for it.
So if you see a longer wait time for some rides at Disney World, note that it could be due to a technical issue like this. We’ll continue to keep you updated on the latest in the Disney Parks!
