5 Things That Will Be DIFFERENT in Disney World in March

Heading to Disney World in March? Well, there are quite a few things that will be different when you go that you should know about.

Welcome to Disney World!

From the start of an EPCOT festival to the reopening of a hotelwe’re breaking down the 5 things you should know about if you’re visiting Disney World in March.

1. EPCOT’s International Flower & Garden Festival

First up, we’ve got the Taste of EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival. January and February were all about the International Festival of the Arts, but now something else is taking over. The Flower & Garden Festival is set to start on March 3rd and last all the way through July 5th, 2021.

So Beautiful!

During the Festival, you’ll be able to look at all kinds of amazing topiaries, check out lots of gardens (including a new Jurassic one!), participate in some fun activities, go on the Garden Graze Food Stroll, check out some entertainment (including a NEW concert series), snag new merchandise, and (of course) chow down on LOTS of delicious food.

It’s the Circle of Festivals?!

If you want an easy way to see what food items will be available during the Festival and mark down the ones you want to try, check out our FREE DFB Printable checklist!

2. Blizzard Beach is Reopening

In March, one of Disney’s water parks will also reopen for the first time since the pandemic closures. Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is currently set to reopen on March 7th!

Thinking of heading to this spot when it reopens? Well, you can already buy your tickets and take a look at some of the park hours. Keep in mind, masks will be required in certain parts of the water park. You can read all about Disney’s water park mask requirements here.

OH, and did we mention that Blizzard Beach is getting NEW FOOD upon its reopening?! A nacho beef hot dog and more are on the way. We’ll keep an eye out for more updates about this location and let you know when we get our first peek back inside of Blizzard Beach.

3. Character Breakfast Coming Back to Hollywood Studios

Slowly, character meals have started to return to Disney World. You can currently dine with characters at Hollywood & Vine in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at lunch and dinner. But, soon you’ll be able to stop by this spot for a character breakfast too! Character breakfast will be returning to Hollywood & Vine on March 22nd.

Hooray for Character Breakfasts at Hollywood & Vine!

While Mickey & friends will still greet you during lunch and dinner, breakfast is going to be all about those Disney Junior characters. You can already go ahead and make your reservations for this dining experience, so be sure to book your reservations as soon as you can for your trip. We have a feeling reservations for this character dining experience might fill up quickly!

4. Some Rides are Closing and Others Are Reopening

There are a lot of refurbishments going on all around Disney World, and some of them will be starting or coming to an end in March. It’s important for you to know what’s happening so you can plan for your trip.

In Magic Kingdom, the Mad Tea Party closed for refurbishment on February 22nd.But, it is currently set to reopen on March 5th.

Also in Magic Kingdom, the Swiss Family Treehouse is scheduled to close for refurbishment on March 12th. The refurbishment is listed through March 25th, so it’s expected that the spot will reopen on March 26th.

Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, It’s Tough to Be a Bug is set to close on March 8th for refurbishment. It is expected to reopen just a few days later, however, on March 12th.

Of course, all of these refurbishment schedules are subject to change. But, it’s a good idea to keep them in mind so you know what rides may be closing or reopening during your trip.

5. Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort Reopens

March is also an important month for one Disney World hotel — Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort. Originally, the hotel was set to reopen on February 9th, but that was pushed back to March 22nd.

All-Star Movies Will (Hopefully) Soon Be Open!

So, at least for the moment, All-Star Movies should be reopening on March 22nd. Of course, that is subject to change, but that’s the current reopening date. We’ll definitely keep an eye out for any updates there and let you know what it’s like when the hotel reopens.

Extended Park Hours

Finally, it’s important for you to know that during March the Disney World theme parks will have extended hours on several days throughout the month. This isn’t exactly “different” in the sense that some park hours have been extended in the past as well. So, that’s why we haven’t officially included it in our list. But, it is worth noting that a LOT of days in March now feature extended hours at the parks.

Cinderella Castle

For example, from March 14th through the 20th, Magic Kingdom was previously set to be open from 9AM to 6PM, but now it’ll be open all the way until 9PM. That’s a lot of extra time in the park! It’s really important for you to know the hours the parks will be open so you can make sure you take advantage of all the time you can have there.

Spaceship Earth

So, be sure to check the park hours right before your trip and throughout your trip because things can change. You can see our most recent update about the extended park hours here.

And those are some ways that Disney World will be different in March. What changes will be in store for April and beyond? We’ll be on the lookout for more updates and share that all with you. Stay tuned to DFB for all the latest!
