A Store Gets a Paint Job, the Second Harmonious Barge Arrives, and MORE Disney World Construction Updates!
We’ve got lots of construction updates to share this week!
This week, we’ve noticed developments on the upcoming M&M’s Store in Disney Springs, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, the upcoming EPCOT nighttime spectacular, Harmonious, and more!
Magic Kingdom
TRON Lightcycle Run
TRON Lightcycle Run is the biggest project going on in Magic Kingdom at the moment. This innovative coaster will take riders into a high-tech universe as they zip around the track.
The structure of the ride’s illuminated canopy has seriously taken shape, and we’re checking out all the additional progress being made.
This highly anticipated attraction was initially expected to open this year for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, but speculations suggest the possibility of a delayed opening.
Check out more photos to see how construction has progressed!
Rivers of America
This week, we noticed more work being done over at the drained Rivers of America.
Last week, the “Harper’s Mill” sign came down. The building is still surrounded by scaffolding as the refurbishment progresses!
Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat are still expected to be closed through the end of February, so we’ll continue to share updates on its progress!
See what else is closed in Disney World this week!
EPCOT
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
This week, the roof of this upcoming indoor coaster appears the same. No additions have been made to the covering of wooden panels. However, it seems that the metal fixtures leading up to the gray scrim-covered unit have been added.
The outside of this attraction is really shaping up! This week, we also learned that special effects are in development for this ride after Walt Disney Imagineering filed a permit for “low voltage show control” that likely involves lights, sounds, and other theming to make the ride more immersive!
Read more about the upcoming special effects here!
Harmonious
Last month, one massive barge moved into World Showcase Lagoon in preparation for EPCOT’s upcoming nighttime spectacular, Harmonious. And this week, a second barge appeared!
We recently saw the first barge testing its arm, but we’ve yet to see any testing on the second barge.
This is expected to be one of Disney’s largest nighttime spectaculars yet, and we’re thrilled to learn more about its debut.
Check out a video of testing at the Harmonious Barge!
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
The walls are now DOWN around Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure! Although there are still tall hedges surrounding the addition to the France Pavilion, this is a super exciting update!
It seems like we’re getting closer and closer to the opening of this attraction THIS year!
We can’t wait to experience Remy’s world from a “rat’s eye view” and go on adventures through the kitchen at Gusteau’s.
Check out a sneak peek at Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure!
Italy Pavilion
The Italy Pavilion is about to get a whole lot sweeter real soon! Here’s a peek at the progress on the upcoming gelato kiosk!
In true Italy style, the roof is lined with terracotta tiles and the walls appear to have a stone-like appearance.
This new kiosk looks like it will fit in with the rest of the pavilion pretty well!

Disney Springs
M&M’s Store
We noticed some major milestones at the upcoming M&M’s Store this week. It got a bright yellow paint job!
Construction crews were working on the exterior of the building the day we caught sight of the yellow makeover.
And on Friday, there was a BIG RED M&M on the building! This is the first glimpse of any M&M theming at this store so far, so this is an exciting development.
This store is still expected to open in Disney Springs this year, so stay tuned for more info!

Disney World Resorts
Polynesian Village Resort
Work continues on the Polynesian Resort while it goes under a major refurbishment. We got a peek at the progress while riding through the (temporarily closed) monorail station!
It was hard to make out any major progress while we rode through, but the project is underway! The signature crossbeams seem nearly ready-to-go.
The refurbishment is still expected to be complete this summer!
Learn more details about the Polynesian refurb here!
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser
This week, we drove past construction for the upcoming immersive hotel, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser!
Some of the building’s structure was visible from this vantage point, and you can see the terminal where guests will arrive for their two-night stay.
This week, the President of Walt Disney World Resort, Jeff Vahle, shared a first look at guest rooms on the Starcruiser! We can’t wait until the exterior of the resort comes together a bit more!
Hopefully, we’ll get the chance at more sneak peeks of the inside of the hotel soon!
Check out the Galactic Starcruiser rooms here!
It’s no surprise that there are lots of projects going on in Disney World right now, and we’ll be sure to provide weekly updates so be sure to check back with us!
