Here’s EVERYTHING (Yes, Everything) That Was Announced for Disney+!
Recently, Disney held its Investor Day conference and shared SO MUCH info about SO MANY new Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, Disney live-action, and Disney animated shows and movies, along with new Nat Geo content and updates on Hulu shows as well!
Basically, it was an entertainment OVERLOAD. And while some of the new things announced will premiere in theaters, MOST of the announcements related to shows and movies of all kinds coming to Disney+. It was a LOT. So, today we’re breaking it down for you and sharing ALL (yes, ALL) of the shows and movies discussed during Investor Day that are coming soon to Disney+!
Star Wars & LucasFilm
Ahsoka
After being featured in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and making a live-action debut in The Mandalorian, Ahsoka Tano will get her own limited series called Ahsoka.
The series is set to star Rosario Dawson and will be executive produced by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau.
Rangers of the New Republic
Rangers of the New Republic is another new show slated to come to Disney+ that is set within the timeline of The Mandalorian. The show will be a live-action series from executive producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, and will intersect with future Star Wars stories.
It is set to end in a “climactic story event.”
Andor
If you were a big fan of Cassian Andor in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, then you’ll be happy to know that Diego Luna is BACK as rebel spy Cassian Andor in the new series Andor.
The series is a spy thriller and is set to arrive on Disney+ in 2022. Diego Luna will be joined by a new cast including Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Hello there! Although we’d heard some information about the Obi-Wan Kenobi series coming to Disney+ previously, during Investor Day, we got the official name for the series — OBI-WAN KENOBI — and it was announced that Hayden Christensen (who played Anakin Skywalker in the prequel films) would be coming BACK as Darth Vader for this show.
Ewan McGregor will also be back in his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi. The series is set 10 years after Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.
The Bad Batch
A new animated series, The Bad Batch, will also be coming soon in Disney+. The series will follow the experimental clones of The Bad Batch, which were first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars as they “find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War.”
Each of the clones in the Bad Batch has an exceptional skill that makes them extraordinary soldiers. In this series, the group will take on daring missions and try to find their new purpose. The series is set to premiere in 2021 on Disney+.
Star Wars: Visions
Star Wars: Visions is another new Disney+ series that was announced. It will be a series of animated short films that celebrate and explore the world of Star Wars in a unique way — all through the lens of some incredibly talented anime creators!
10 visions will be brought to life from leading Japanese anime studios for this series.
Lando
If you’re a big fan of Lando Calrissian, then you’ll lose that this scoundrel will be soon getting his own event series — Lando — which is created by Justin Simien.
The series is still in the early stages of development at this time.
The Acolyte
Disney+ will also be home to another new original series called The Acolyte. This series will be a mystery-thriller that is set to take us into a “galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.”
It’s being led by Leslye Headland, Emmy Award-nominated creator of Russian Doll.
A Droid Story
Additionally, Lucasfilm Animation will be teaming up with Lucasfilm’s visual effects team — Industrial Light & Magic — for a special film called A Droid Story which will be coming directly to Disney+.
This adventure film will feature a new hero guided by R2-D2 and C-3PO.
Willow
LucasFilm Ltd. is also working on Willow, a new series which is set decades after the 1988 movie. Warwick Davis will be returning in the role of Willow Ufgood and Jon Chu is set to direct the pilot.
The series will premiere on Disney+ in 2022.
Disney Live-Action
Hocus Pocus 2
The cult classic film, Hocus Pocus, will finally be getting a spooktacular sequel with Hocus Pocus 2!
The film will be released exclusively on Disney+ and Adam Shankman is set to direct.
Three Men and a Baby
We had heard some information about a remake of the ’80s comedy film, Three Men and a Baby, and during Investor Day Disney shared that the film will release on Disney+ in 2022 and will star Zac Efron.
The film is set to be a modern take on the original classic.
The Keanon Lowe project
Disney+ will also be getting The Keanon Lowe project, which is inspired by the real-life story of a “high school coach who averted tragedy through compassion.” Disney shared that Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia are all on board as producers through Seven Bucks Productions.
Greek Freak
Greek Freak is also set to come to Disney+ in the future and actually is set to head into production next year. Greek Freak shares the story of NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and his family who were living as undocumented immigrants living in Greece, and ultimately lifted themselves out of poverty.
The Chris Paul project
The Chris Paul project is a biographical film that’s in development for Disney+. The film would follow the story of NBA superstar Chris Paul, his legacy and destiny, and what has made him who he is today.
Flora & Ulysses
Disney is also working on a film called Flora & Ulysses which is a comedy-adventure based on the award-winning book about Flora, a 10-year old kid who is an avid comic book fan, and who happens to rescue a squirrel with unique superhero powers!
The film is set to make its debut on Disney+ on February 19th, 2021.
Cheaper by the Dozen
Cheaper by the Dozen will also be reimagined with a new story focused on a multiracial, blended family of 12.
Gabrielle Union is set to star, and the film will premiere on Disney+ in 2022.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Diary of a Wimpy Kid will be coming to Disney+ in 2021 with an all-new animated film.
The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild
Ice Age is also back with a new spin-off series based on the popular movie franchise. The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild will be made exclusively for Disney+ and will center on three characters: Crash, Eddie, and Buck.
Simon Pegg will be returning as the role of Buck, and the series is set for an early 2022 release on Disney+.
Night at the Museum
Night at the Museum will also be coming back in a new way — this time, it’ll be animated!
Shawn Levy is on board as producer and Night at the Museum ic set to launch on Disney+ in 2021.
Chip N’ Dale: Rescue Rangers
Chip ‘n’ Dale are back in an all-new hybrid live-action-animated feature film called Chip ‘n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers.
Pinocchio
Disney’s new live-action version of Pinocchio will also be heading to Disney+.
The film will use state-of-the-art CGI and is set to feature a BIG star!
Peter Pan & Wendy
Peter Pan & Wendy will also be coming straight to Disney+ will an all-star cast!
Jude Law is set to play Captain Hook with Yara Shahidi in the role of Tinker Bell.
Disenchanted
Disenchanted, a sequel to Disney’s film Enchanted will also stream exclusively on Disney+.
Amy Adams is set to return as Giselle!
Sister Act 3
Another sequel will also be hitting Disney+ in the future — Sister Act 3!
Whoopi Goldberg is on board to star and produce this film, and Tyler Perry has also agreed to work as a producer on the project.
Walt Disney Animation
Raya and the Last Dragon
Raya and the Last Dragon will premiere in theaters and Disney+ on Premier Access (for an additional cost) on the same day — March 5th, 2021.
The story follows Raya as she searches for the legendary last dragon to restore her divided people and fractured land after an evil force threatens her land.
Baymax
Baymax will be the star of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ first animated series. The series will follow Baymax as he cares for others in the city of San Fransokyo.
The show is set to premiere on Disney+ in early 2022.
Zootopia+
Zootopia will also be getting its own short-form series — Zootopia+. The show will give us a better look at some of the film’s characters including Fru Fru, Gazelle’s tiger dancers, and Flash!
The short-form series is set to debut on Disney+ in the Spring of 2022.
Iwájú
Iwájú is a new series that is truly the first of its kind in terms of the unique collaboration between Disney and Kugali. The series will be set in Nigeria and explore themes of class, innocence, and challenging the status quo.
The series will come to Disney+ in 2022.
Tiana
Princess Tiana will get her own series soon on Disney+! The show is set to be a long-form musical-comedy series that explores both New Orleans and Maldonia!
The series will come to Disney+ in 2023.
Moana, The Series
Moana will also get her own long-form musical series on Disney+.
The series will follow Moana as she goes on all kinds of adventures beyond the reef. The show is set to debut in 2023.
Pixar Animation Studios
Soul
Disney and Pixar’s Soul will be coming to Disney+ in just a few days — on December 25th!
The movie follows Joe Gardner as he goes from New York to The Great Before — the place where souls get their personalities, as he tries to return to his life on Earth.
Burrow
Burrow is part of Pixar’s SparkShorts and was originally set to debut before Soul in theaters. The story follows a young rabbit who works to build the burrow of her dreams (but doesn’t know what she’s doing) and digs herself into some deep trouble.
The short will premiere on Disney+ on December 25th, 2020.
Pixar Popcorn
Pixar Popcorn is a collection of mini-shorts that will feature some of your favorite Pixar characters in new, short stories. The collection will come to Disney+ in January of 2021.
Dug Days
Dug from Pixar’s Up will also get a new series of shorts called Dug Days that will follow him on some hilarious adventures.
This series is set to premiere on Disney+ in the fall of 2021.
Cars
Cars will be a new series following Lightning McQueen and Mater as they go on a cross-country road trip.
The series is set to premiere on Disney+ in the fall of 2022.
Win or Lose
Win or Lose will be Pixar’s first long-form animated series and is set to follow a coed middle school softball team. Each episode will look at the same story from the perspective of a different character.
The series is set to debut on Disney+ in 2023.
Marvel Studios
WandaVision
While we already knew that WandaVision would be coming to Disney+ in 2021, we did get a peek at a NEW trailer during Investor Day giving us another look at the series.
The series will follow Wanda and Vision as they live “idealized suburban lives” but then start to suspect that things aren’t quite what they seem.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier
During Investor Day, we also learned that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier series will debut on Disney+ on March 19, 2021, and got a little peek at the show.
The series follows The Falcon and Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier) as they go on a global adventure.
Loki
Investor Day also brought us a look at Loki — the new series coming to Disney+ in May of 2021 that features Loki at the center of his very own crime thriller.

What If…?
In Marvel’s new series What If…? fans will get to see and explore what would have happened if famous events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe had gone differently.
It’s Marvel Studios’ first animated series and is set to come to Disney+ in the Summer of 2021. Get a peek at the series here.
Ms. Marvel
Ms. Marvel will also get a new series on Disney+! The show will follow Kamala Khan—a 16-year-old Pakistani-American growing up in Jersey City. Khan struggles to fit in and then one day actually gets superpowers herself!
You can see a sizzle reel for the series here. It’s set to launch on Disney+ in late 2021.
Hawkeye
Jeremy Renner is back as Hawkeye in this new series coming to Disney+ in late 2021.
The show follows Hawkeye as he teams up with Kate Bishop (played by Hailee Steinfeld).
She-Hulk
Marvel Studios is also working on a new comedy series called She-Hulk which will feature Tatiana Maslany as She-Hulk/Jennifer Walters. Her character is a lawyer who “specializes in superhuman-oriented legal cases.”
Several Marvel characters will make an appearance in the series including the Hulk (played by Mark Ruffalo) and the Abomination (played by Tim Roth).
Moon Knight
Moon Knight is another new Marvel Studios series coming to Disney+. It is set to be an action-adventure series that features “a complex vigilante who suffers from dissociative identity disorder.”
The identities who live inside this vigilante are all distinct characters who “appear against a backdrop of Egyptian iconography.”
Secret Invasion
Secret Invasion is another new Marvel series. This show will feature Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Skrull Talos.
The “crossover comic event series” will showcase shape-shifting Skulls who apparently have been infiltrating Earth for YEARS!
Ironheart
Ironheart will also be coming to Disney+ in the future. The series will star Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams — a “genius inventor who creates the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man.”
Armor Wars
Marvel Studios is also working on another series for Disney+ called Armor Wars which will star Don Cheadle as James Rhodes (War Machine). Cheadle’s character will have to “face what happens when Tony Stark’s tech falls into the wrong hands.”
Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special
The Guardians of the Galaxy will get a new holiday special set to come to Disney+ during the holiday season of 2022.
We can’t wait to see what kind of hilarious jokes and hopefully fantastic music is featured in this special.
I Am Groot
Guardians fans will also be happy to know that Groot will be getting his own series of shorts on Disney+!
National Geographic
National Geographic will also be releasing a whole bunch of new content on Disney+ in the future including Cousteau (a film that will do a “deep dive” into Jacques Cousteau’s life, revealing the man behind some of the world’s most significant contributions to contemporary environmentalism)…
…Genius: Martin Luther King, Jr. (a scripted series that will explore the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. and how he became one of the most influential African American leaders in history)…
…Secrets of the Whales (from executive producer and Nat Geo explorer-at-large James Cameron and narrated by Sigourney Weaver, this series will venture deep into the world of whales to look at life and love from their perspective, and will tell the stories of 5 different whale species)…
…A Real Bug’s Life (a 10-episode series that will show viewers what life is like on Earth — from New York City to your own backyard — from a bug’s eye view)…
…America the Beautiful (which will take viewers on a journey through “America’s visually spectacular regions: the Frozen North, the Wild West, the Grassy Heartland, the Deep South and the Mountainous High Wilderness)…
…Limitless With Chris Hemsworth (which will follow Chris Hemsworth as he explores and tests new scientific research about the human body and how we can unlock our own body’s powers to fight illness, reverse the aging process, and perform better)…

Disney Television Studios
The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers
Disney Television Studios is working on the next chapter of the Mighty Ducks franchise, which will premiere in early 2021. Lauren Graham and Emilio Estevez will star in this series where the Mighty Ducks have gone from an underdog team to a super competitive youth hockey team.
When one 12-year-old is cut from the team, he and his mom look to build their own team of misfits to challenge the incredibly competitive culture of youth sports.
Big Shot
Big Shot is a series that will follow a basketball coach that gets fired from his job and has to take on a coaching and teaching job at an all-girls private high school.
John Stamos will star in this series along with other actors including Yvette Nicole Brown.
The Mysterious Benedict Society
Disney is also working on a series called The Mysterious Benedict Society which will follow a group of orphans who have been placed undercover at a boarding school and must foil an evil plot. The series is based on the bestseller by Trenton Lee Stewart and will star Tony Hale in the titular role.
Turner & Hooch
Turner & Hooch is a new series that will follow the story of an “ambitious, buttoned-up US Marshall” who inherits a big, unruly dog and realizes “the dog he didn’t want may be the partner he needs.” Josh Peck will star as Scott Turner, who is the son of Detective Scott Turner (played by Tom Hanks) from the 1989 film.
Beauty and the Beast (working title)
Luke Evans and Josh Gad are back in this new Beauty and the Beast prequel series which will follow the pair as they go on their own epic adventures and romances.
The series will all be set to an original soundtrack from Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken!
Swiss Family Robinson
Disney is also working on a “modern reimagining” of the classic Disney film — Swiss Family Robinson.
The new series will come from creators Ron Moore and Jon Chu.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a new series in development that will explore the “epic adventures of a modern-day demigod.”
The Disney+ series is based on the book series from Rick Riordan.
And that’s EVERYTHING (for now) that we got a peek at on Investor Day aside from Safety (which is already on Disney+) and Inside Pixar (which has also already premiered on the service). With LOTS of new series and movies set to be released every year, we cannot wait to see more and check out all of these new things once they’re finished!
