8 Christmas Movies on Disney+ to Binge-Watch With the Family!

It seems like the holiday season has been speeding on by as Christmas Eve is TOMORROW (annnd we still haven’t finished our shopping yet 🤷🏻‍♀️)!

Magic Kingdom

While you might be getting your grocery lists ready for Christmas dinner and setting up your gifts underneath the tree, we’ve got your holiday entertainment covered! So, we recommend getting your Disney+ on standby because these are the 8 movies you’re going to want to binge during the holidays.

Godmothered

Although many of our Disney Princesses have been visited by Godmothers before heading to a ball or to help them find a prince, Disney+’s newest movie flips the narrative on its head! Godmothered finds Eleanor looking for Mackenzie, a little girl who once reached out to the magical Motherland, in order to save the Fairy Godmother program.

However, when she arrives to Boston, she discovers that Mackenzie is now a widowed mother with two children. Based during the holiday season, Godmothered redefines what a “happily ever after” looks like as Eleanor bonds with Mackenzie and her daughters, Mia and Jane.

As your whole family gathers together for movie night, you can enjoy a whole lot of magic, laughter, heart, and even some music along the way! (Plus, we totally want a Fairy Godmother even more now.)

Noelle

While you might think of Santa Claus as Kris Kringle, what if Santa was actually a girl? In Noelle, Santa’s daughter goes in search for her brother who has abandoned his new position as Santa Claus after their father passes away. As she redefines the North Pole’s traditions (with some AMAZING outfits) and meets a few friends along the way, Noelle discovers that people have a little magic in each of their hearts.

Noelle

Plus, Noelle really makes us feel empowered since Noelle leaves behind her role as someone who is meant to solely support her brother as Santa as she has magic of her own to bring holiday cheer to others!

Prep and Landing

Speaking of the North Pole, Prep and Landing takes a break from Santa to focus on his elves that help make Christmas run smoothly. When Wayne doesn’t get a well-deserved promotion as a part of the Prep and Landing team, he feels frustrated trying to train a new rookie named Lanny. Although the Prep and Landing squad is all about making Santa’s job on Christmas effortless, disaster strikes when these two elves work together.

We’re pretty used to hearing about elves making toys in Santa’s Workshop, but Prep and Landing changes the way everyone views the jobs at the North Pole with a bit of suspense and so much Christmas magic.

Oh, and Wayne and Lanny are a HILARIOUS dynamic duo who will make everyone crack up during your Disney+ watch session!

The Santa Clause Trilogy

Get ready to gear up for an adventure, because The Santa Clause trilogy packs a punch with chaos, romance, and even appearances from other legendary figures! Tim Allen stars in the series of movies as the jolly man himself as he is thrown into the role of Santa Claus one fateful Christmas.

The series dives into family and friendship, while trouble arises with “The Mrs. Claus Clause,” life-size toys that try to take over the North Pole, and Jack Frost going rogue to rule the holiday season.

While you might have a few classics that you watch every year with your family, you might want to start adding The Santa Clause films to your line-up this holiday season since they’re all on Disney+!

Home Alone

As a kid, we always dreamed of having a mini-vacation to ourselves away from our family like Kevin McCallister during Home Alone (sans burglars, of course). And, there’s a reason that Home Alone is still just as iconic 30 years after it came out in 1990. When Kevin is left at home during his huge family’s trip to France, he celebrates by ordering a lovely cheese pizza just for himself and defending off two burglars with hilarious traps!

Despite his eventful staycation, Kevin realized how much he loves his family while they’re away as he also bonds with a neighbor to help him reconnect with his son and granddaughter. Cue the chorus of “awwws” here!

©Disney

From iconic lines like “Keep the change, ya filthy animal” to the famous screaming face that Macaulay Culkin makes as Kevin, Home Alone might be one of the best Christmas movies of all time. (Just try not to make your family disappear while watching it!)

The Muppets Christmas Carol

We all know the original story of Charles Dickens’ classic novel, but this version of A Christmas Carol is told through music and many, many Muppets. Disney has released many Muppets movies, but The Muppets Christmas Carol has a special place in our hearts since it uses Jim Henson’s famous puppets to tell the events of Christmas past, present, and future with an added twist.

Plus, Disney recently added back in the lost song “When Love Is Gone,” which adds on an extra layer to the movie about things we’ve missed out on in life (the movie is still really family-friendly, though!). Miss Piggy also seems like an awesome cook because that turkey looks INCREDIBLE.

Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas Series

Disney’s Christmas movie stars fan-favorite characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy as multiple stories come together for a magical holiday feature. The first movie, Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas focuses on Goofy’s relationship with his son Max, Donald’s whole family, and a spin on O. Henry’s short story “The Gift of the Magi” starring Mickey and Minnie.

The sequel to the film, Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas, is also on Disney+ with FIVE stories instead, including an epic ice skating sequence between Minnie and Daisy and Huey, Dewey, and Louie’s trip to the actual North Pole.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

The Nutcracker‘s story might be well-known from the music, ballet, and other films that have debuted in years past. But, Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms turns the story into an adventure as Clara must defend the citizens from the magical four realms.

We adore the original The Nutcracker story, but this new version has some of the most GORGEOUS costumes, scenery, and makeup that we’ve ever seen in a Christmas movie. Although your little ones can enjoy it, your big kiddos will especially love The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.

©Disney

Buuut, we honestly feel like we want to add a few of Clara’s dresses to our Christmas lists after watching this movie another time.

Honorable Mentions

While they may not be movies, Disney’s TV entertainment is filled with festive features that can add some holiday flair to your night. The Disney Holiday Singalong is a perfect way to Christmas carol at home as famous Disney celebrities and Broadway stars gather together to sing holiday tunes.

The Wonderful World of Disney Magical Holiday Celebration also brings a few more big names together for a musical event with a sneak peek inside Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure that’s debuting in Disney World in 2021!
