Review: Is Docking Bay 7 Worth Trying in Disney’s Hollywood Studios?

When you’re off on a planet in a galaxy far, far away, sometimes you need a l’il something to eat.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

After all, piloting the Millennium Falcon and fighting the First Order is a lot of work! While the Ronto Wrap gets a ton of hype, the dining anchor (since there are more options) of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, a fast-casual counter-service restaurant themed to a delivery shuttle that ships goods on and off the planet of Batuu.

We recently stopped by to grab a quite bite and a pint to see if this is still a solid dining option now that Hollywood Studios has reopened (albeit, with limited dining options).

Atmosphere

Guests are HIGHLY encouraged to use the Mobile Order on the My Disney Experience app to purchase food and drinks around the parks, and Docking Bay 7 is no exception! This option helps to limit the contact between guests and Cast Members and to maintain social distancing.

Simply use the app, order your food on your phone, pay on your phone, and go to designated pick-up locations to receive your food and drinks. Signs encouraging mobile ordering can be seen outside of Docking Bay 7.

Eats

We decided to opt for a classic Docking Bay 7 lunch option, the Endorian Fried Chicken Tip Yip. It may sound different and look incredibly rectangular, but this is good ol’ fashioned fried boneless white chicken. While it can come with a side of vegetable mashed potatoes with herb gravy, we opted for macaroni and cheese and roasted vegetables. This meal costs $15.49. Honestly, for the serving size, this is a little pricy.

After all, we’re BIG fans of this mac and cheese! The Macaroni and Cheese is a favorite, brought up from the Kids Menu to an adult-sized portion. The mac was still SO good, perfectly cheesy, and the l’il circles of pasta are just TOO cute!

We also really enjoyed our roasted vegetables, which was broccoli! In the past, this veggie has been a little salty for our taste buds, but it was cooked very well and helped to balance out the heavier mac and cheese and fried chicken.

SPEAKING of the chicken, we’ve had mixed experiences with the Endorian Fried Chicken Tip Yip before. But this time, the panko-coated chicken was cooked quite well. Not too juicy, not too dry, juuuuuust right.

We paired our fried chicken with an ice cold beer, the Gold Squadron Lager, brewed by Blue Point Brewing Co.

This $13.25 16-ounce brew was light and refreshing.

Think of any lager (aka, Budweiser) but more rich and flavorful.

Nosh or Not

Make landing at Docking Bay 7 if:

  • You want a quick, filling meal with a great Star Wars-themed atmosphere while in Galaxy’s Edge.
  • You have picky eaters. Between the Endorian Fried Chicken Tip Yip, Batuuan Beef Pot Roast, and Felucian Kefta and Hummus Garden Spread, there’s something here that will please everyone. Yes, the names are weird…but the food is pretty standard and basic!

Fly elsewhere if:

  • You want a long, relaxing sit-down meal at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in a quiet space.
  • You want something more unique in flavor (not just shape). The mac and cheese, fried chicken, broccoli, and beer were all pretty classic menu items.

Overall

Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo is a standby in Galaxy’s Edge, and increasingly so at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While the food has been pretty inconsistent, we enjoyed this quick service meal and generally find the atmosphere fun.
