Disney+ Introduces a NEW GroupWatch Feature That Lets You Watch Together — Without Being Together
We’re suckers for a good Disney+ show, and there’s nothing better than watching with friends.

Our last few months have brought us a fair amount of awesome Disney content. Last month, we got to watch Mulan through the new premier access feature, and The Mandalorian returns next month! Now, we can watch our Disney+ favorites with friends — even when we’re not all on the same couch!
According to CNN Business, Disney+ just debuted a new social feature called “GroupWatch” that allows up to seven people to watch synced content together on their web, mobile, connected TV devices, and Smart TVs.

This comes a few months after the Disney-owned Hulu streaming service began testing its own feature, Watch Party, that lets viewers watch and chat together. Disney representatives noted that the features were in development prior to the global health crisis, but the shutdown created even more demand.

To use the service, which is available today, select a title in Disney+ and press the GroupWatch icon on the details page. This will allow you to send an invite to up to six other Disney+ subscribers for the content to play simultaneously for everyone. While watching, you can react with emojis or pause the title and a full chat function may be coming later on.

Disney+ Senior Vice President of Project Management Jerrell Jimerson noted that “It provides a really easy way to watch with friends and family, particularly in times when you can’t have four friends over on a Friday or Saturday night to watch something like The Mandalorian. This is a great way to have a similar kind of experience with other people you would otherwise be hanging out with in person.”
