CDC’s No-Sail Order Extended Through October 31st — What Does That Mean for Disney Cruise Line?
Though Disney’s theme parks in Florida have officially been reopened for a few months, other Disney operations out of the Sunshine State, namely Disney Cruise Line, haven’t operated since March.
And because of the coronavirus pandemic, Disney Cruise Line has suspended all of its sailings through mid-December.
Even though Disney has taken this action and stated that the cruise line would be the last part of the business to reopen, cruising COULD come back to the United States much, much sooner than anticipated.
According to Axios, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the no-sail order for the U.S. cruise industry will be extended through October 31st, the same day as the cruise industry’s self-imposed no-departure order.
The CDC wanted to extend the no-sail order through mid-February 2021, but the White House pushed back. This isn’t the first time the CDC’s no-sail orders have been controversial. Recently, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez asked the CDC not to extend the order past September 30th.
What does this mean for Disney Cruise Line? Not much, since they have voluntarily suspended operations through mid-December, but after that, the subject could change at ANY time, and when it does change, we’ll be sure to let you know!
