REVIEW and PHOTOS! New Menu Items at Katsura Grill in Disney World’s EPCOT! (Waaaangs!)
Let’s face it, food is basically its own attraction at Walt Disney World. And especially at EPCOT!
Whether you’re eating your way around the world at the 2020 Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, or snacking your way through all of the delicious treats at Les Halles Boulangerie & Patisserie in the France pavilion, you’re sure to find something delicious!
Recently, we tried 3 items new to the reopening menu at a fantastic EPCOT spot and we can’t wait to share them with you!
Tucked away in the “mountains” of the Japan pavilion in EPCOT is Katsura Grill, a quick service spot with some unique items!
They’ve got everything from sushi to pork ramen!
There are also a few dessert and alcoholic beverage choices available. (FYI, the desserts are usually not awesome — get a kaki-gori instead!)
If you’re looking for more substantial goodies, though, there are lots of teriyaki options. (SO yum.)
Now, we know that Disney World is changing up their menus drastically here after the reopening. This could be due to supply issues or kitchen distancing concerns.
But usually we see things LEAVE the menu — not get added on! So this is exciting! We recently stopped in and found some food items that are new to the menu since Katsura reopened, and we just had to give them a try! (Because 1) we love Disney food, and 2) it’s totally our job.)
First up – the Yuzu Miso Wings! This dish comes with 6 fried and saucy chicken wings!! These wings were sweet and had a fresh citrusy, lemony flavor!
They really didn’t have any heat or spice to them, so if you’re a fan of more sweet style wings, this may be a great dish for you! And those sesame seeds really go give a little texture and nutty flavor to the dish as well.
This was probably our favorite of the three new dishes we tried! You can chow down on these delicious wings for $8.50.
Next up, the Menchi Katsu Slider! This slider features a breaded and fried all-beef patty topped with Sesame slaw, and served with Fries.
It was very similar to the Menchi Katsu Slider we tried at the 2020 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival! Now we love a deep-fried burger, but while the slider from Katsura Grill was definitely tasty, it was the least memorable of the dishes we sampled. You can munch on this treat for $9.50.
Last up, the Okonomiyaki Fries! If you like fries with unique toppings and sauces (um…who doesn’t?), this may be the dish for you! These fries come with that yummo Tonkatsu Sauce, Mayonnaise, Bonito Flakes (dried, smoked shavings of tuna), and Aonori (seaweed flakes).
The fries were surprisingly less flavorful than the wings, but they were still definitely delicious! (Fries and mayo — how can you go wrong?) You can grab these fries for $5.50.
Overall, we found these dishes to have great portion sizes and fun flavors! They were all great options for a meal or even a snack as you make your way around the world at EPCOT.
