It’s D23’s anniversary! And they’re celebrating in a big way!

We’ve already checked out all the ways that D23 is celebrating this big anniversary, but now we’re taking a closer look at some exciting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge information that we’ve heard during the festivities! Thanks to the Inside Disney podcast, we know a little bit more about merchandise, easter eggs, and more from Disney’s Batuu! Let’s check it out!

The team at the Inside Disney podcast sat down with Scott Trowbridge, a portfolio creative executive with Walt Disney Imagineering, who has been working hard to develop to the world of Galaxy’s Edge over the past few years.

Baby Yoda!!

Trowbridge started off by telling us a little bit about how easter eggs work in Galaxy’s Edge. Since the world is so immersive and involved with other Star Wars materials, they can pre-plant easter eggs for things that aren’t even out yet. A good example of this is located in Dok Ondar’s Den of Antiquities.

When Galaxy’s Edge first opened, Dok Ondar’s had a helmet and pulse rifle on the shelf that didn’t draw too much attention. When The Mandalorian debuted on Disney+, those easter eggs became a LOT more mainstream — because it was Mando’s stuff! Trowbridge noted that’s not the only easter egg in Galaxy’s Edge that is for something upcoming, too. He noted that we should keep an eye out for things that become important in more Star Wars stories down the road. Oooh!

Then the conversation turned to merchandise. Let’s just say, we’ll be apologizing to our wallets in advance. Trowbridge noted that merch is so important because it lets guests take a piece of their experience in Batuu home with them and it can even help folks to create their OWN Star Wars stories.

Trowbridge was able to announce several upcoming books that will have Target-exclusive editions to go with the Galaxy’s Edge Trading Post that launches in Target stores this Sunday. One is Star Wars: Myths and Fables, a collection of in-universe fairytales, and the other is Star Wars: Dark Legends, a collection of spooky tales and ghost stories. Both books will have a target edition with three new stories inside. There’s also an upcoming Batuu-based children’s book called Elee & Me!

Rise of the Resistance

These books will be offered in the new Galaxy’s Edge Trading Post in Target stores alongside other items like the Galaxy’s Edge Cookbook, a Target-exclusive Chewbacca Hooded Blanket, and MORE! We can’t wait to check out some of the merch at our local stores!

All in all, we’re pretty excited to check out all of the new merch coming to Target and to keep our eyes peeled in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge for any easter eggs we might have missed!
