BIG NEWS and REVIEW! 🧀The Alps Booth is BACK🧀 At the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival! (And You Know We Got CHEESE!)

The weekend is HERE, and there’s no better way to celebrate this Saturday than with new Food and Wine snacks and treats (can we get an amen??).

International Food and Wine Festival

While the A Taste of EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival has taken elements of the Flower and Garden Festival that was cut short this year, we haven’t seen too many Food and Wine festivities happening in the parks. But, this week we got a sneak peek at the specially themed merchandise that would be coming to the parks, as well as more food booths across EPCOT.

And, it looks like today’s that day because The Alps has officially opened to guests with warm, delicious cheese and frozen drinks!

The Alps Booth

The Alps is following the same safety precautions as the other booths in the World Showcase with distancing markers, line dividers, hand-sanitizer stations, and plexiglass barriers.

And this epic booth brought back quite a few of its fan-favorite snacks and drinks (and you KNOW we are all over that Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese)! But, a few oldies have seen some updates and brand new treats have made their way onto the menu for 2020.

The Alps Menu

While you can get the Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Baby Potatoes, Cornichons, and a Baguette for $4.50 like previous years, now you can have a second version with Alpine Ham added in for $5.50!

Plastic cheese has been one of our favorites in Disney World for a looong time. But, the melted Swiss cheese in this dish is honestly so good, it might even convert non-cheese lovers. The ham has a hint of saltiness that balances out the milder taste of the Swiss.

Plus, the pickles and potatoes pack some extra flavor and texture with each bite, along with the baguette for dipping! Although it’s more like a fondue or mini charcuterie, the Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese is definitely big enough to sub out for your lunch or dinner in the parks.

Look at all that CHEESE!

Even though last year’s Food and Wine Festival had the Blueberry and Almond Frangipane Tart served with Crème Fraîche, the 2020 version looks a LOT different. The tart in 2019 actually looked like a tart, while The Alps has made the tart into more of a cake this year for $4.50.

Since it was a sunny day, the topping on our tart melted (so be warned if you want that cute Instagram photo)! Although the tart has more of a vanilla cake base, it’s light and moist.

The blueberry HITS in this treat, but we could have used more of that almond flavor coming through. The Blueberry and Almond Frangipane Tart is a good portion, so it’s shareable with one of your friends and family members for an afternoon pick-me-up.

When you’re at Food and Wine, it’s basically a necessity to try as many drinks at the booths as possible. The Alps is serving the same Maison Willm Réserve Gewürztraminer from the 2020 Thailand booth for $6 and the René Favre Dôle from last year for $7. While the Frozen Rosé was featured last year for $9, we couldn’t help but want to sip on it again in this Florida heat!

Frozen Rose 2019

The Florida sun struck AGAIN during our visit to The Alps. The “Frozen Rosé” ended up just being…um…really cold Rosé by the time we were able to drink it. The flavors were perfectly in the middle on the Rosé scale with a hint of sweetness and a touch of dryness on the end, which was very refreshing during our walk around the World Showcase. But yeah, if you want it actually frozen, it may need to be a cooler day (or maybe their freezer machines just weren’t getting the job done yet since the booth literally JUST opened)!

Since there are even MORE booths that have popped up in EPCOT today, we’ll take you with us to check out the rest of the Food and Wine goodies that are available for the Fall season!
