Review! The NEW Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich from Disney’s Animal Kingdom
We’ve been scoping out Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World for some new savory treats!
The quick-service counterpart to the Yak & Yeti Restaurant is open and cooking up something new! We ventured into Asia to try the new-to-us Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich from Yak and Yeti Local Foods Cafe and we’re back with results!
The crispy fried chicken breast came topped with Honey Heat Sauce, tomato, and Kimchi Slaw. The sandwich is served with fries and costs $13.99.
We’re always a tad bit skeptical when Disney notes that a menu item has “heat.” It’s never quite as spicy as we want it to be. In comparison to other spicy Disney food, the Honey Heat Sauce had a bit of a kick. We still really wish it had more heat. The lack of spiciness didn’t detract from the tastiness, however!
The heat (or lack thereof) was balanced nicely with the sweetness of the honey in the sauce. At first glance, we thought there wasn’t enough sauce for the sandwich, but the spread was on both sides of the chicken. There was a good amount of sauce to really compliment the sandwich.
The Kimchi Cole Slaw was fresh and added a touch more spice and depth to the sandwich. It added a good crunch for texture too!
The tomato was a pleasant surprise! It was a thick-cut and tasted fresh. It wasn’t the soggy tomato slices we sometimes see around the theme park!
By the way, Disney has changed the way we experience quick-service dining at the theme parks. They have implemented new health protocols by encouraging mobile ordering and blocking off tables to create distance between travel groups. Yak & Yeti also handed us condiment packets to guests from a tray. As opposed to having us serve ourselves from a condiment counter.
Yak & Yeti is one of the limited quick-service restaurants currently open in Animal Kingdom, but that doesn’t mean it’s a winner by default! It’s a crowd favorite quick-service restaurant due to the unique flavors and portion sizes. Despite the lack of heat, the chicken sandwich didn’t disappoint us at all. It tasted great and had a good portion size. We were fully satisfied by the time we finished this sammie off!
We also think this sandwich would pair nicely with a side of Seasoned Fries from Mr. Kamal’s, which is also currently open! We’ll continue to make our way back to Yak & Yeti to check out any new updates in the future!
Did you hear the news? Cheeseburger Pods are back on the menu at Satu’li Canteen!
