The welcome back celebration took place overnight, while many new health and safety measures have been implemented, so let’s go check it out!

Shanghai Disneyland was the first Disney theme park to reopen on May 11th, and has served as a guiding light for Hong Kong Disneyland’s phased reopening.

Stephanie Young, Managing Director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort says the parks are “learning from one another”, and as Disney World and Disneyland prepare to reopen next month, we can have a better idea of what Disney will be doing to create a safe environment for its guests and Cast Members.

Hong Kong Disneyland is using Disney Parks Chief Medical Officer Dr. Pamela Hymel’s six-pronged scientific approach which includes operating with a reduced capacity, increasing handwashing and making hand sanitizer more available throughout the parks, increased cleaning, temperature checks for all guests and Cast Members as well as requiring cloth face coverings.

Dr. Hymel says Disney is working on adding more contactless payment options to the parks and just today they’ve launched a new health and safety educational campaign recruiting some of our favorite superheroes to help get the message across!

For families who are on the fence about returning to the parks, Dr. Hymel said only do what you’re comfortable with and know that Disney is taking the situation very seriously. They can’t wait to welcome guests back when they’re ready.

At this time, Disney World is expected to be the next resort to reopen with Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom on July 11th followed by Epcot and Hollywood Studios on July 15th. Disneyland Park’s Resort proposed reopening is scheduled for July 17th.
