Disney Has Changed One of Our Favorite Desserts in Epcot’s France Pavilion AGAIN! Does it Still Measure Up?
Les Halles in the France Pavilion is a fan favorite at Epcot. From savory soups and sandwiches to sweet desserts (and even a FULL baguette you can purchase for under $5.00!), Les Halles has something for just about everyone.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the Flower and Garden Festival, we stopped by this tried and true quintessential World Showcase dining location to see if there were any new updates since the last time we visited. First off, we noticed a new Brie-filled Bread Bowl! Then we panicked a bit when we noticed that our beloved FRANGIPANE no longer listed on the menu! After asking, it’s still being offered but it has changed yet again!
So for starters what exactly IS frangipane? For those of you unfamiliar with this dish, frangipane is an almond flavor filling that’s full of butter, sugar, and eggs.
We simply love snacking on this tasty treat (and in fact, we are used to seeing this menu item change from time to time!). You may remember the BIG Frangipane change that took place last year, now it has changed once again. Here’s a look at the previous frangipane option.

And as we said earlier, while it’s not currently on the menu, it’s still available for purchase! Cue the heavy sigh of relief! While this is still labeled as a frangipane, it does look pretty different from the previous version. And while we don’t know if this is a permanent frangipane change, we will be sure to keep you posted!

This new version of frangipane still has that almond filling you would want and expect to taste, but they have added chocolate and hazelnut to the pastry itself.

With our expectations high, we weren’t as thrilled with the changes! This is a total bummer since it’s seriously one of our go-to Epcot treats.
Because of the rich, velvety components that frangipane has on its own, we don’t think it needed the addition of the chocolate and hazelnut. In fact, we found that the flavors didn’t combine very well and we would rather stick with, in our opinion, wasn’t broken and didn’t need fixing!

Almond fans, fear not: there is still plenty of almond-flavored filling in this pastry and you should still taste that classic frangipane flavor! Just be ready for those additional flavors, and even if you’re a hazelnut fan like we are, the overall taste may be a hit or a miss!

While we love seeing new menu additions and changes come to Disney World, this was one that didn’t really hit the mark for us! If you would like to try the new frangipane next time you’re in World Showcase, you can pick one up at Les Halles for $4.75.
