What’s New Animal Kingdom: Fuzzy Blankets, the Return of a Photo Wall, And More!
We’re baaaack with another What’s New in Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
This is where we cover all the buzz when it comes to food, construction, merch, and more!
Animal Kingdom Food Updates
DinoLand U.S.A.
We’ve hoped/prayed/wished/begged for the return of the of the Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream Sandwich at Dino-Bite Snacks, but alas, it has not shown its pretty face yet. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that’ll be back on the menu soon.
You can, however, still get the holiday special, Double-Chocolate Peppermint Ice Cream Sandwich. This was one of our favorite holiday treats because it’s absolutely delicious and has the perfect amount of peppermint flavoring. Sadly, we don’t think it’ll be sticking around much longer. So, if it was MINT to be, you better get over there soon!

Pandora
Florida has been a bit chilly the last few days. So, to help guests battle the cold Disney offered hot cocoa at select locations like Pongu Pongu. It was available for $3.29 or a snack credit if you’re on the Disney Dining Plan.
If you arrive early to Pandora famished from your journey, Pongu Pongu is still offering breakfast but we did notice a $.20 increase on the sausage and egg breakfast biscuit.

Africa
Our beloved SnowTini has sadly melted away from Dawa Bar. This beauty was delicious and featured Snow Leopard vodka.
We’ll be on the lookout for any new additions or specials added to the menu. In the meantime, you can find more drink options over at Thirsty River Bar and Trek Snacks in Asia.
Harambe Fruit Market is currently offering the same sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit that can be found at Kusafiri Bakery. You can also snag other options like a muffin, hot cocoa, and Joffrey’s Coffee. And guess what, all of these items can be are snack credit options if you’re on the Disney Dining Plan!
They’re selling these items until they run out each day. We arrived around 11:30 AM and found that a few sammies were still left in the warming tray.
Animal Kingdom Construction Updates
Harambe Market
We notice some small construction taking place in Harambe Market.
On your next outing to go grab some ribs, you may notice this small rectangle of planters that look to be covering some work that’s happening on the ground.
Near Pandora Entrance Near Tiffins
The African sunset mural is back and ready for photo ops! This is on your walk to Pandora and was recently covered for the holidays by the Merry Menagerie animals.
Animal Kingdom Merchandise Update
Various Locations
It’s been a wee bit freezing here in Central Florida so we were happy to see these blankets available for purchase in several locations throughout the park.
While these aren’t necessarily new, they’re typically only out when its a bit cooler outside. Priced at $28.16, a selection of the blankets are made from recycled fibers.
We also found adorable (and cuddly) animal baby blankets, like this one below, but those are more traditional fleece (i.e. not made from recycled fibers). These are priced at $27.95.
Riverside Depot
Strike a pose! A Mickey Selfie Shirt is available here for $24.99. Lookin’ good Mickey!
It is also a part of the “Buy 2 for $22 each” deal that’s offered frequently offered around Walt Disney World.
We also found Purple Mickey Tees that are available in two shades and each priced at $24.99.
Island Mercantile
New Bejeweled Animal tops are also available!
Make quite the FASHION statement in this Rainforest design priced at $36.99.
Things are looking UP, because we also found a Giraffe design available too!
That’s all for now, friends! We’ll be back some with another edition of What’s New in Disney’s Animal Kingdom soon. So, be on the lookout!
