Details on the Lengthy King Arthur Carrousel Refurbishment in Disneyland!

It’s that time of year where Disney needs to dust out the old cobwebs and grease the cogs of all their attractions so they can provide the magical experience we’re used to. For some attractions though, even more work is needed and Disneyland has several attractions currently down for extensive refurbishment.

In addition to the Haunted Mansion, Snow White’s Scary Adventures, and the Indiana Jones Adventure receiving extended downtime, King Arthur’s Carrousel is also getting a new coat of paint to breathe some new life into this park staple.

According to Orange County Register, King Arthur’s Carrousel closed last week to begin a months-long refurbishment. First, the team will take apart portions of the carousel and they will even remove the horses. These little guys will then get a new coat of paint backstage in the maintenance shop. Cast Members will also add new sheet panels, which will be primed and painted the match the existing design. After this, the horses will be reinstalled and the carousel will be ready to rock and roll once more.

The carousel was originally constructed in 1922 and has been at Disneyland since 1955. Because of its location in the park, most of the work will be done at night. The refurbishment is currently slated to last until May, so keep that in mind if you’re planning a visit this year. We will update you if anything changes about the attractions refurbishment timeline.
