Updated Walkway Joining Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Contemporary Resort is Finally OPEN!

Things just got a little easier for pedestrians at the MOST MAGICAL PLACE ON EARTH!

Magic Kingdom

That’s because the updated walkway has just opened up connecting the Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Contemporary Resort — and vice versa!

We took a stroll along the path this morning to show you what the newly updated walkway looks like! This is still a work in progress, so a few of the Walk Around the World bricks are still lingering.

As you exit the Magic Kingdom, you’ll see a large sign directing you to the walkway on your left that leads to Disney’s Contemporary Resort!

Some additional signage was posted on the temporary construction walls along the walkway. The walkway is still in its early stages of development and will continue to evolve along with the rest of the Magic Kingdom’s entryway in time for Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021, but for now, it sure is convenient to have, (albeit unfinished!)

As you can see here, the old walkway is hidden behind green construction walls.

The updated walkway is made of freshly poured concrete and slinks under the monorail tracks…

…then follows alongside the track until you reach the crosswalk. Temporary barricades and reflective white and yellow plastic slats create a dividing line between the new path and the resort bus stops.

Check out the rennovated walkway for yourself if you need a break from the holiday crowds at the Magic Kingdom! You can hoof it on over to Disney’s Contemporary Resort to check out their awesome Gingerbread Castle display, as well as the Christmasy treats they sell at their snack stand!

How do you feel about all the construction that is happening at Disney World right now? Is it a good or bad thing? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
