Uh-Oh. Have the Fan Favorite Zebra Domes Been Changed Up in Disney World?
Change isn’t always a good thing when it comes to Disney food.
Although we sometimes have to say goodbye to great treats every once in a while, it’s even harder to see one of our favorite treats get an unnecessary makeover!
Thanks to our insta follower and DFB reader @MickeyandMakeup, we got word today that the Zebra Domes at the The Mara in Disney World’s Animal Kingdom Lodge seem to have undergone a renovation.
The domes consist of an Amarula Cream Liquour mousse covered in panna cotta-esque white chocolate, chocolate drizzle, and chocolate shavings. The treats usually sit on a thin cake base…
…but here in our reader’s version, the soft cake bottom has been replaced with a hard piece of chocolate! According to our reader, the dessert isn’t as enjoyable as you have to bite through the hard chocolate, which takes away from the texture we’re used to in this fan favorite treat.
We don’t know whether this is a long-term change OR if it’s also the case at Boma restaurant (where Zebra domes are a favorite dessert every single night on the buffet). If this is JUST at the Mara, maybe it’s because the domes in the fridge case were getting soggy with the cake base?
We will be checking the Zebra Domes out for ourselves this week, but if you’ve had them recently, let us know YOUR experience at Boma and Mara!
