REVIEW! Las Posadas Holiday Kitchen at Epcot’s International Festival of the Holidays

Hola from the 2019 Epcot International Festival of the Holidays.

Las Posadas

We’ve been sipping and nibbling around the outdoor kitchens and are back with the Las Posadas booth in the Mexico Pavilion!

Las Posadas is a returning festival booth but this year, EVERYTHING at this booth — food and drink — is NEW!

Las Posadas

First up: THE FOOD!

Las Posadas

Foods

Giant Tostada de Puerco

The new Giant Tostada de Puerco for $8.50 features uber tender Braised Pork on a Giant Tostada (flat corn tortilla) with Chipotle Black Bean Spread, Guajillo Sauce, Queso Fresco, Crema Mexicana, Pickled Onion, and topped with Chicharrón Dust. Thanks to the use of corn, this beauty is gluten-free!

Giant Tostada de Puerco

You can probably tell from how good it looks but this thing is DE-LISH. The shell is nice and crunchy and the bean spread is sooo good. You can’t go wrong with the chicken and red sauce either but the real standout in this dish is those pickled onions. YUM.

Tamal de Pollo

Next up, the Tamal de Pollo stuffs Braised Chipotle Chicken into a Corn Masa tamale. It’s topped with Yellow Mole and Toasted Pumpkin Seeds, Queso Cotija and Crema Mexicana. This is another gluten-free eat and it’s priced at $6.75!

Tamal de Pollo

This dish is super good too! The pumpkin seeds give a nice crunch and the queso cotija is packed with flavor. If you’re a fan of tamales, this will likely be a huge hit with you!

Horchata Cheesecake

For a sweet bite, we picked up the Horchata Cheesecake for $5.00. This is a creamy rice-based cheesecake, like the real drink! It’s topped with Cajeta caramel sauce. Cajeta is Mexican caramel made with goat’s milk.

Horchata Cheesecake

This one almost looks too good to eat! Almost… trust us, we ate it! Very cinnamony and very pretty, this dessert has the perfect combo of flavors and consistency. The cheesecake is a great choice if you’re looking for something a little different (or if you’re tired of chocolate and peppermint)!

Drinks

To wash it all down, this booth offers up 3 new holiday drinks this year!

Holiday Cider

First up, the Holiday Cider. This Hard Apple Cider is mixed with Cinnamon-infused Tequila and priced at $7.00. Pretty cheap for a cocktail!

Holiday Cider

We’re starting off with our fave drink here! The Holiday Cider is definitely a sleeper hit at the fest. The cinnamon-infused tequila really gives it a kick and gives it a little bit of a festive apple-y marg feel.

Mexican Fruit Punch

For something a little more tropical, we tried the Mexican Fruit Punch for $12.50. This blends Mezcal, Red Wine, and Blackcurrant Liqueur infused with Star Anise, Cinnamon, Clove, Ginger and Orange Peel. It’s served warm like a Mexican mulled wine!

Mexican Fruit Punch

This punch is a good choice if you’re a mulled wine fan! It’s warm and yummy. Our one complaint is that the mezcal is kind of understated and it could definitely use some more smokey flavor, but still really good.

Horchata Margarita

And finally, if you didn’t get enough horchata with your cheesecake, pick up the Horchata Margarita for $11.50, which mixes Tequila, Horchata Rum, Cinnamon Whisky, and Agua de Horchata served on the rocks.

Horchata Margarita

Ok ok, so it can be really hot in Disney even this time of year, and that heat makes it a little difficult to want to drink something cold and creamy. BUT if you can get past that this is a really tasty drink! It’s sweet and boozy, definitely a festive way to get your sip on. If you love horchata, this could be a great choice.

Overall

We’re SUPER happy with all the new options at Los Posadas this year. We love the bold flavors in the food and the Mexican twist on classic holiday drinks. We’re definitely glad this booth will be around for the whole festival, we almost wish it could be longer!
