Review! Everything OLD is NEW Again with a Returning Holiday Favorite in Epcot!
While eating our way around this year’s Festival of the Holidays we stopped by the France Pavilion for one of our fav holiday treats.
We’ve seen a lot of returning favorites show up at this year’s festival in World Showcase, but this classic holiday treat has a new (old!) twist for 2019!
The Buche de Noël is a traditional Christmas yule log treat that you can find in patisseries across France. So it’s no surprise that this holiday favorite found its way to Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie in the Epcot’s France Pavilion.
Last year when we reviewed the Bûche de Nöel au Chocolat, it had a tasty mint flavor, but Disney did a major switch-up this time, reverting BACK to an older version. Oh yea…and it LOST that adorable meringue mushroom we loved! MAJOR sad face there!
Though the appearance of the Buche de Noël remains the same, we tasted a very noticeable ORANGE FLAVOR this year! If you are a fan of a chocolate/orange flavor combination (YUM), this pastry will be a major win for you. Just a few years ago, this was the flavor of the treat, so it looks like mint is out and orange is in!
It’s quite rich due to all the orange chocolate mousse and has a crunch from a chocolate biscuit (cookie) hiding in the bottom. If you find yourself in Disney World this holiday season, head to Les Halles in World Showcase and check out the newest edition of the classic holiday treat for $6.75!
