Review: We Had A Dining Wake At The Delightfully Spooky Haunted Mansion Tea Party At Disneyland Resort!
The Grim Grinning Ghosts are out to socialize with every guest who dares to visit Disneyland. While we’ve seen plenty of merch and treats for the Haunted Mansion’s 50th Anniversary, now it’s time to (tea) party with the ghosts with the most!
We recently gave you all the deets about the NEW Haunted Mansion Tea Party at Disneyland Hotel’s Steakhouse 55 for a limited time this fall. We attended the spooktacular tea party, and we’re here to tell you ALL about it!
In celebration of the Haunted Mansion’s 50th anniversary, happy haunts materialize for a menu that includes scones, tea sandwiches, seasonal gingerbread tea, wines by the glass, and more.
Three Mysterious Parties
Before we dive into our review, we want to note that there are three tea parties you can choose from.
The Classic Tea Party will feature traditional scones, tea sandwiches, desserts, teas, and herbal infusions. This experience is $55 per adult.
The Premium Tea Party comes with sparkling wine, traditional scones, salad, tea sandwiches, desserts, farewell truffles, teas, and herbal infusions. This option is $70 per adult.
The Kids’ Tea Party will have traditional scones, tea sandwiches, desserts, juices, milk, hot cocoa, and herbal infusions. It’s $35 per kiddo.
Eats
For our review, we went with both the Classic and Premium packages.
After pouring ourselves a lovely cup of herbal tea (either hot or iced!)…
… We first dug into the assortment of scones that came with strawberry marmalade, Devonshire cream, and lime curd (or slime).
While each of the scones were sweet and soft, the surprise cotton candy scone happened to be our favorite with the light and tasty flavor.
Next on our BOOtiful journey were the tea sandwiches. There were the Coffin Chicken Salad Tea Sandwich, the Clock Cheese and Ham Tea Sandwich, and the Pumpkin Peanut Butter and Jelly Tea Sandwich (which were all still fantastic bites).
We also snacked on the tea sandwiches featuring Beet Duxelles with Goat Cheese, Ham and Cucumber with Chive Cream Cheese, Capocollo Salume Banh Mi, and Bresaola with Cornichon and Blue Cheese Herb Mustard.
The tea sandwich that was stacked high with cream cheese, cucumber, and ham just happened to be inspired by the stretching portrait, while the beet tea sandwich was a reference to your “beating heart” during the attraction. How cute!! And, we can’t forget that the banh mi was in memoriam to Rosie the Pig in the Haunted Mansion graveyard (yes, the tea sandwich is ironically made with pork).
Last, but not least… Our favorite part of the meal arrived with hot-and-cold running chills — DESSERT!
The White Chocolate Red Velvet Cake Pop channeled the murderous vengeance of the resident bride, Constance Hatchaway, with its moist cake and cocoa flavors.
Meanwhile, Madame Leota called out to the spirits in the Haunted Mansion resting in dark and white chocolate panna cotta.
We couldn’t help but enjoy the terrifying Hatbox Ghost Chocolate Covered Strawberry…
… And the ghastly Ghost Chocolate Covered Strawberry.
Before we left, we took a bite of the Hitchhiking Ghosts Chocolate Whoopee Pie made with Marshmallow Cream Filling. The mixture of chocolate and marshmallow was sweet, but not overpowering. It was so delicious that we wouldn’t mind the Hitchhiking Ghosts following us home if it meant we got more of these whoopee pies!
Overall Thoughts
While the Haunted Mansion might give you the spooks, the tea party at the Disneyland Hotel was scary good. We thought that the food was delicious and the details were incredible.
For the price, there was PLENTY of food at the tea party. However, the only difference between the Classic and Premium packages was a glass of wine or champagne, a box of Farewell Truffles…
… And a Romanesco and Gooseberry Salad with Lychee Vinaigrette. This was good, but not the highlight of the meal.
So, unless you really want those truffles, it might be better to get more bang for your buck with the Classic Package, especially since you can get Annual Passholder discounts! (;
