Dedication Ceremony Makes Way for the Disney Skyliner’s Grand Opening!

We’re officially TWO DAYS away from the grand opening of the Disney Skyliner!

Skyliner and Riviera Views

And today, Disney hosted a dedication ceremony to celebrate the BIG event.

A dedication ceremony is kind of like a rite of passage for when new lands, attractions, or experiences open at the Disney Parks! Recently, we’ve seen dedication ceremonies for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and the new NBA Experience in Disney Springs. Buuuuut now it’s the Skyliner’s turn to be in the spotlight!

While attending the ceremony, we were given the CUTEST little Skyliner cookies!!

We also had a sneak peek of some of the Skyliner merchandise you can expect to see around Walt Disney World Resort!

The ceremony kicked off at Caribbean Beach Resort with Stephen, the Walt Disney World Ambassador. He spoke about the Skyliner and introduced Thomas, the senior VP of Walt Disney World Resorts.

Thomas spoke about the exciting year that Disney has had so far! From the opening of Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs, the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Epcot Forever, Disney’s Riviera Resort (which will open in December), and of course, the Disney Skyliner!

Hi Thomas!

Alison, the VP of Disney transportation, spoke about the magic and the sense of wonder that comes from Disney transportation. Much like the magical feeling of seeing the castle from a ferry boat or monorail for the very first time, Disney transportation can truly have a lasting impact on guests’ experiences.

Then, Alison did something REALLY special… She brought out EVERY TYPE of Disney transportation Cast Member. It was so cool to see so many people that create magic through different modes of Disney transportation in one place!

Skylar, a Skyliner Conductor, introduced the new kind of magic that will officially grace the skies on September 29th — the Disney Skyliner.

Mickey and Minnie were also there to celebrate the big event along with our friends Vanellope, Judy Hopps, and Stitch!
