4 Important Tips You Haven’t Heard…But Need To Know…For Your Next Disney Vacation!

If you’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World, you’re likely getting well-acquainted with the ins and outs of booking FastPass+ and Advanced Dining Reservations, as well as all the other pre-trip planning that needs to be done before you’re ready to hit the parks.

Welcome to the Magic Kingdom!

But hold up a sec! There are still a few key pieces of information you really should know before you go. We’ve got 4 tips that can help you out of many jams in Disney World — and these ain’t your run of the mill suggestions your Facebook moms group will share with you! Let’s get started!

How Lost & Found Works

We’ve all done it… left a pair of sunglasses on the bus or a backpack on Peter Pan’s Flight. Hey, it happens! Luckily at Disney World, it’s no biggie!! If you’re in one of the parks, head to the nearest Guest Relations. At any resort, you can go to the front desk for help.

Often, they can help you locate your item if it was picked up or returned. If not, the Cast Member will most likely refer you to www.chargeback.com/disneyworld. Use this page to report anything you’ve lost anywhere on Disney property including the Parks, buses, Resorts, gondolas, monorails, etc.

We’ve successfully had phones and toys returned to us this way! You provide as detailed of a description as you can recall and you’ll receive progress updates as they search for your item! Typically within 48 hours, you’ll receive a response if the item was located.

Even after your trip, if you realize you left something behind, go fill out a report and see if they can find it. Disney will happily mail you the item home at no charge.

Disney’s Magical Express Bus

The exception to this is if you accidentally leave something behind on the Magical Express (the complimentary Disney motorcoach that takes you to and from the airport). If that happens, call 866-599-0951 for assistance.

How to Get Something Back From a Minnie Van

So you hopped in a Minnie Van for a speedy ride to dinner or the parks. But OH NO! The Minnie Van drove away and you suddenly realize you left behind your phone. Or your sunglasses. Or your backpack. Don’t sweat it — you likely haven’t lost your stuff forever!

Take a Minnie Van to your destination at Disney World!

You just need to call Minnie Van Headquarters at (407) 828-3500. Give them your Minnie Van number and they will know who your driver was and be able to immediately get in touch with them. The driver will return your item to you as quickly as possible.

Where to Get Over-The-Counter Meds

Accidents and illnesses are all parts of life that don’t stop just because you’re on vacation. You might come down with a splitting headache, your kid might trip and skin their knee, or maybe that spin on Mad Tea Party left you feeling a little queasy. Whatever ails you, head to the nearest First Aid Center. There’s one in each park.

First Aid Centers are stocked with full-time nurses to help as well as most common over the counter meds, bandages, Powerade (if you find yourself dehydrated), ice packs, and more. These are gems in the parks most guests walk right past! Best of all — all of the services and items are FREE. They want you feeling better and enjoying your trip!

Many gift shops stock a variety of over the counter medicines as well, so keep an eye out if you feel under the weather.

Gift Shop Options

For the littles, you’ll want to check out the Baby Care Centers. They have plenty of diapers, formula, private nursing rooms, and even a place to warm bottles and food. Some of the products they carry will cost you, but it’s a great convenience to have at each of the Disney parks! This is also a good spot for overstimulated, cranky kids to cool off and watch some cartoons for a few minutes as well.

Got a potty training aged kid? They even have toilets just for the littles as well (though by the time you hear “I gotta go!” chances are you won’t have time to run to the Baby Care Center!) 🙂

How to Deal With Missing a FastPass

Fastpass Entrance for Splash Mountain

You may have known that you can modify a FastPass on the fly with the My Disney Experience app, but did you know that you also have a slight grace period to work with? 5 minutes before your FastPass arrival window and up to 15 minutes after it closes, most people have success still getting the Mickey head to light up green when they scan their MagicBand. This is subject to change, of course.

If you know you’re not going to make it to your FastPass in time, you have until the end of your return window to modify it for another available attraction at any open time. Worst case scenario? If it’s just out of your control to make it on time and you’re going to miss that FastPass, head to Guest Relations. If you explain your situation, Cast Members MAY be able to help, but that isn’t a guarantee.
