Will Disney World’s Grand Floridian And Polynesian Village Resorts Get A Walkway To The Magic Kingdom?

Early mornings and late nights in Magic Kingdom may get 10x easier for Grand Floridian and Polynesian Village Resort guests!

Cinderella Castle

There is so much construction going on around Disney World right now. From the Ticket and Transportation Center to the Skyliner Gondola System, the parks are going all out to make travel much more convenient for guests as the 50th anniversary approaches for Walt Disney World.

And now there may be another convenience in the works that we’ve been hoping for for a LONG time… .

A recent permit filed under the Florida State Department seems to indicate that a walkway may be built between the Grand Floridian and Magic Kingdom at some point. Or at least Disney World is laying the groundwork, so to speak, to allow for one to exist.

The Grand Floridian

Since there is already a walkway between the Polynesian Village Resort and the Grand Floridian, this would mean that Polynesian Village Resort guests would also have walking access to the Magic Kingdom from their resort hotel.

And while there is a monorail system station at both resorts — and boats are available to and from the Magic Kingdom from both the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian — with this potential walkway, guests would be able to walk straight from their rooms to the Magic Kingdom for Extra Magic Hours or take a stroll back after fireworks on the walkway, avoiding the lines and crowds at the monorail and boat boarding stations.

Polynesian Village Resort

Currently, only Disney’s Contemporary Resort has direct walking access to the Magic Kingdom, so this is an exciting and long-awaited development if it turns out to come to pass. Our fingers are crossed!
